Mr and Mrs. Peter Weider -
man recently moved from
Stratford, where they had lived
most of their lives, to take up
permanent residence in
Goderich.
Mrs. Weideiman loves to
read and does needlepoint and
knitting as a hobby. Her big in-
terest at the moment is interior
decorating.
Mr. Weiderman is a man of
many talents. Having appren-
ticed and graduated as
Metallurgy Technician he has
specialed in Commercial Heat
Treat. He is now with
Dominion Road Machinery Co.
as Company Metallurgist.
In the last three years with
Steffler Metal Products of Kit-
chener, he set up a program to
control quality of . metal
products writing specification
for each product giving any
probleins.
In this work his favorite
hobby, photography, helped •
where close ups and microscope
photography of metallurgical
specimens were needed.
He is writing a "Postal

interest and knowledge of the
early history of stamps and

The Goderich Municipal -
Police force investigated two
traffic accidents during the past
week one of which sent John J.
Huckins of Goderich to hospital
with" a severely broken leg.
Huckins was driving a motor-
cycle on the Square when it
went out of control slamming
into a parked vehicle, bouncing
into a second parked car and
then sliding 67 feet down the
pavement carrying the rider
with it.
Damage to the motorcycle
was estimated at $125 and to
the car at $75. Th`e mishap oc-
curred on the evening of April
11.
In the second accident, April
13, John Bedour. of 199 Nelson
Street parked his car on that
roadway but when he got out
the vehicle junipe-d into gear '
and crossed Nelson Street, -jum-
ped a cement median and slam-
med into a traffic light -post.
Damage to the car was
estimated at $225 and to the
pole at $40. There were no in-
juries. (staff photo)

tremendous. He has acquired
post " marking devices dating
back over 100 years.
As a child he collected
everything from butterflies to
rocks and coins and any old or
historical item he could find.
Stamp collecting, post mark
collecting - especially when
collecting the individual post
marks from every post office
ever set up in the county dust
has to be a terrific hobby.
_Books and records of the past
- also early histories of statutes,
newspapers, tokens etc. are in
his hands. He naturally loves
,old „cameras and their hist(g•y
and care.
He is one of the founders of
the Stratford Stamp Club. Now
past president he is still editor
of their Newsletter with copies
being sent all over Canada,
Quebec and many parts of the
United States.
He is proud to have received -
an Honourary Life Membership
of this club.
He helped organize the
'Postal History Society of On-
tario' and is very active in this
work.
He collects "Revenue
Stamps" which were actually a
fore runner to the postal stamp
- dating back to the sixteenth
century. He has "some of the
revenue stamps dated in early
1800.
Mr. Weiderman hopes,
someday, to write a newspaper
column for stamp collectors, as
this can . be a very expensive
and' heart ,;breaking hobby if
one doesn't know the proper
care for his stamps.
He has written a great deal
about his collections and
specifications concerning his
work. Someday he says, be will
write a book -when he has time.
