Charlie MacDonald leads Reinhardt Voelmle one game to nothing. In Level 2 quarter -finals Jim Kingsley :defeated Glen Whiteman in the second game to tie the series at one game • apiece. The winner of this series will go on to play .Kirk Lyndon in the semi-finals. In level 1 semi-finals Glen Falkiner and Dennis Little split their first two games and wit play the third game this week The winner of this series wit. play Harold Kloeze in the finals. . In Level 4 semi finals Rick Kingsley and Laird Eisler tied their first match. Rick then came back to win the next twc games. Rick will now play against John Scarthin in the best of three finals. Sunset golf course teadyforseason' by Diane Crawford Hi' Rernember me''q' I'm Dianne. I worked in the Pro Shop last year, and I'm looking forward to seeing you again. While studying on the weekend I could see the avid golfers in fine form at the Sun- set. It's a beautiful sight, to see the golfers out so early in the season. Leroy and his crew are working diligently to prepare the ictiurse for the Holiday weekend so watch for the flags and .the grass flying this week. Let's - hope for favourable weather, so we can play a few rounds. "I'he golfers all seen pleased with the -_way the Course has wintered, and with the Pro Shop displays.. You have a treat in store if you haven't seen the rainbow of colours in shoes, bags, and clubs on display. Things look really 'bright for this season. Teams,are now signing up for league Golfnite, so don't forget to round up your team. The free golf ball special is going great guns, so slide out and get ,your membership before it's too .late. Figure Skating Club will send directors to Interclub event The final meeting of the Board it Directors of the Goderich Figure Skating Club *as held for the 1972.-73 season on April 1. A report was g•enf the dance .sponsored by the club and held Saturday, March 24. It was felt that it was a success considering that this was an initial venture for this club. Several upcoming meetings were discussed, one of which • was the annual "meeting of In- terc•Iub which will be held April 29 in St. Mary s. It was decided that several board members would attend this meeting. 11. ViHAT'S NEW AT HURONVIEW Mrs. Luther of Hensall led the song service., Sunday evening sponsored by the Christian Womens Club. Mrs. Smith sang two solo numbers and played the organ for the hyri n- sing. - The devotional period was taken by Mrs. An- derson and Mrs. Jackson. The residents of Huronview . had a special treat on Monday afternoon when the grade seven and eight students of Clinton Public School presented an operetta "Carnival Capers." The two act play that was arranged - for Education Week - involved 95 students.. There were 46 students in the cast, a . choir of 40 and several helpers with the wheel chairs along with volunteers from the Christian Reform Church. This was a fine display of talent and a great deal of credit is due to the music instructor Mrs. Jewitt and the teaching staff. Mrs. Aiken thanked all those taking part in the program on behalf of the residents. Mrs. Mary Jervis of Toronto and Mrs. Edith Landsborough of the. office .staff showed slides along with a very interesting commentary of the South Sea Islands. The slides were taken by the ladfe9 during tfleir win- ter, holiday to the Island- as part of the tour arranged by Reverend and Mrs. Ashton. We are all looking forward to the second part of the travelogue on Family Night April 19th which will include New Zealand,'Australia and Hawaii. Mrs. Loran Radfordplayed piano melodies while the folks ;'ere gathering 'in the Auditorium and during inter- mission. Miss Marion Gray in a few well chosen words thanked the ladies on behalf of the residents_ ANNUAL SPRING REFUSE COLLECTION PICKUP A refuse pick-up will be held during the w,pek of APRIL 30th to MAY 4 inclusive. Please co-ordinate your refuse material with regular garbage day in your area. Do not place material on boulevard in advance of garbage day. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TOWN OF GODERICH This Novice "8" team was the first to bring back to Goderich the Lake Huron Zone Championship when they captured it in Kincardine last week. (staff photo) Squirt "Bs" in lake Huron tourney - On March 17 the Squirt "B" team started to play iry.the, Lake Huron Zone Recreation Association Annual Novice Tournament. The teams en- tered in the tournament were Kincardine B, Paisley, Wiarton No. 1, Goderich Kincardine C, Wiarton No. 2, Owen Sound Leckie, Exeter, Kincardine A, Durham, Listowel, Owen Sound Local 1443 and St. Marys. The scores were as follows: Kincardine B-3, Paisley -4; Wiarton No. `"1-0, Goderich 8; Kincardine C 8, Wiarton No.,2- 0; Owen Sound Leckie24;' Exeter 3; Kincardine A-1, Durham -2; Owen Sound Local 1443-3, St. Marys -4. . Listowel had a bye into the tournament but because of weather conditions could not attend. Start of playoffs: Paisley 2,, Goderich-10; Wiarton No. 2 - 2, • Owen Sound Leckie -4; Durham -3, St. Marys -6. Owen Sound left by bus because of weather conditions and the tournament could not be finished on March 17. Goderich team was storm stayed in Kincardine. until Sun- day afternoon when the roads to Goderich were opened. The tournament was con- tinued March 25 in Kincardine when Goderich played Owen Sound Leckie, At the end 'elf regulation time the score was tied 2-2. The decision was made on a series of 3 penalty shots by each team on 'the op- posing goal keeper. Shooting for Goderich were John Clements, Robert Jeffrey and led Doherty who scored all 3 Goderich goals, giving Goderich a 5-4 win over Owen Sound. The spectators gave credit to Brian Shewfelt, Gacderich goal keeper who stopped more shots than the Owen Sound goal keeper, as Goderich did not play as well as they could have during the game. This game placed Goderich in a playoff position for the championship of the toter- nament against St. Marys. This game played in St. Marys on April 7. ,By defeating St. Marys 4-0, Goderich won the tournament on goals scored by Randy Graham unassisted. Ted Doherty assisted by Brian Fellows and Steven Dobie, the third goal scored by 7' -.Brian Fellows assisted by Rick Ryan• and John Alexander and the fourth goal scored by Robert Jeffrey assisted by Jeff Denomme and Stephen Boyce. Each player received a LH- ZRA crest and the team will receive a trophy as champions of the tournament. A special thanks to the parents who supported the kids at all the games and to the coaches George Osmond and Ken Boyce for all their time spent with the boys. Bridge Scores The Goderich Bridge Club held their regular get together on Tuesday April 10. First, "Mrs. W. Duncan and Mrs. D. Worthy 29 points; second Mrs. J. Donnelly and Mrs. B. Erskine 28 1/2 points; third Mrs. J. Papernick and Mrs. J. Cook 26 1/2 'points and fourth Mrs. A. Galbraith and Mrs." R. Ryan with 24 1/2 points.
