T.V. will begin Tuesday for the regular programmes that have been allotted to the committee of the Lucknow Craft Festival. Posters are aiready beginning to arrive from the school children. These will be judged in May and used to advantage in the advertising programme. Each and every committee member had good reports and especially from those who had worked on ideas at the craft level at the Convention have received good results. There is still opening for some baking and still more space outside the arena if there are anv who would set up out- side. . Many new crafts and ideas are to be found in the Festival this year.' Hello and Welcome Back To The Sunset ! 1 had a lovely surprise Friday nite while attending what I expected to' be a small gathering of present and former members of the 'Rec' Council •and Town Council. The nice part was that ALL members of all departments of Council were represented and all enjoyed the well planned Wine and Cheese Party set up so nicely. I had no idea so many were involved in the business of the Town and everyone agreed it was great to see so many dedicated people in one place — at the Same time. Each department usually does its ownlittle job and seldom sees even the whole council very often. The nicest surprise came when the retiring members were presented with a lovely, engraved pen and pencil set --11, Sheaffer, of course — and a few kind words of thanks for the many, many hours of their precious time spent for a small - but growing — Huron County town they ,.are. -proud to call HOME. Last Sunday was a beautiful sunny day — with an icy wind blowing. We trailed along the Lake shore from Kincardine back and could scarcely believe the damage done in erosion. The lovely beach at Kincar- dine for the time being, has disappeared. Many staunch trees along the shore are top- pled and cottage owners are facing a great loss in many cases. It is just hard to believe that after all these years, the water could rise to such a height — and stay there. Spring usually gives us some flooding and worry — but this year isloing to be a year of many wQrries — especially along our shore line. Today, Monday, we are threatened with icy rain or snow, temp. 32* and lower! You.just can't get away from We thank you for your support last year, and we look forward to serving yes again this year SPRING IS HERE! Br -r - r -r-! .1 checked with Bill and Betty Reid on the success of the opening of their Saltford Village Store. They were 'over- whelmed and delighted that so many people stop'd by with their good wishes. As I said before, I'm tickled pink to., see Saltford stirring again. It may never be the big bustling town of a hundred years ago with its six or seven hotels etc, but the many nice homes being built there lately shows that it is a, lovely little spot. On the "Bulletin qoard" you will notice many interesting events coming up. Once again — I can't understand why so many organizations fail to set their date in the "coming events book" at the Signal Star office. This book is a real con- venience item for everyone and the office • girls are nice and pleasant — and are glad to write in your date in advance and answer all calls regarding that date so that another group doesn't divide the crowd bY having their affair the same nite or close to it. Perhaps there is a misunder- standing about this bou,k? You don't have to put in an ad at this time — there is. no cost in- volved and it is set up mainly to prevent two or three events happening on the same dates. A great many 'organizations know months ahead when their Easter Tea or Bake Sale or Dance date is set Sure as guns' there are several dances or par-, ties the same nite and they all grumble about small crowds. When you plan an affair check with the Signal to see if that date is open. Your party will be a much better success and the town folks will be hap- pier too. Love, Martha.
