the detachment patrolled 7,339
miles of highway and other
roads.

a safe speed. Speed that will
permit drivers to stop within
the stretch of road illuminated
by their headlights.

SCHOOL NEWS
During this past week, the
school was busy with a contest
in which the children would
guess how many bubble gums
there were in a jar, The winner
of this contest was Betty Jane
Foran, a Grade 1 student. Her
guess was' 99 - the exact
amount. tier prize was the jar
of bubble gum. The proceeds of
this contest will go toward the
school excursion to Maple
Ridge, British Columbia.
Mrs. •Joe O'Keefe is replacing
Mrs. Paul Eedy-: teacher of
Grade.,2 'and 3.
On Wednesday the girls
Basketball team played St.
Mary's team in Goderich and
lost, with the score St. Mary's
27 - -Kingsbridge 4.
Kingsbridge Boys Volleyball
team defeated the Wingham
Boys two games to one with.the
Wingham Girls defeating the
Kingsbridge girls two games to
one.
Plans are being made by the
Grade 5, 6, 7, .and 8 _pupils to
stage the operetta. "Jack and
the Beanstalk" on Tuesday
evening, April 17.

Sunday afternoon, April 1,
St. Joseph's Parish Council of
the C.W.L. held their annual
meeting in the Parish Hall at
Kingsbridge • with ap-
proximately 25 members in at-
tendance. It was opened with
the League Prayer.
Correspondence was read.
Resolutions to be presented at
the Diocesan Meeting in
Chatham were read. Members
voted in favor • of .all six,
resolutions. The Annual
Diocesan Meeting will be held
in Chatham at St. Joseph's
Parish Hall on 'Tuesday and
Wednesday, May 8 and 9.
Thank you notes were read.
Save the Family plan was
discussed. It was suggested to
send the donation in one lump
sum and also 'to consider
changing to another •family af-
ter two or three years help.
It was a very productive year
and the reports concerning the
year will he added to a flyer
and put in with the Sunday
Bulletin. The treasurer's report
was given fcir the year.
A card party will he held this
Friday night, April 16, 197:3 af-
ter Mass. Mrs. John Austin and
Mrs. Walter Clare are looking
after this. There will also he a
bake sale on Good Friday.

,the Sacred Heart Program and
to the Education fund, the
Monsignor_ Mahoney Bursary.

and Respiratory Disease
Association, which this year is
being held in Egmondville
United Church, Egmondville,
Ontario, on Wednesday, May 2
at 6:30 p.m.

McDonald, Program' Con-
sultant with the Ontario TBRD
.Association in Toronto. Along
with Mr. 'McDonald's presen-
tation, the program will include
"Christmas Seals in Action" by
a small group of children from
the Asthmatic''- Conditioning
Class ,presently in progress.

hear reports and see what
Christmas Seal dollars are
doing.

pin for outstanding service at
any level of service or in
recognition for a particular
project,. was made by Mrs.
Frank Riegling in the form of a
scripture reading entitled,,
Charity. Mrs. Riegling presen-
ted the pin to Mrs. Joe Court-
ney on behalf of Mrs. Jim Mar-
tin. Mrs. Courtney thanked the
League for this honour.
Father Dentinger spoke a few
words in deep appreciation. He
said the League stands out as
an active one as evidenced by
the activities in the bulletin. He
wished a good new ,year to the
League.
The meeting was closed with
prayer. It was then turned over
to Mrs. Con Hogan, the chair-
man of the elections committee.
