CONGRATULATIONS
We are quite -proud of our
youthful • hockey players and
their enthusiastic parents in
our area who have contributed
much of their time and effort in
promoting Canada's National
sport.
Jimmy Mathers of Black's
Point Rd. played left.. wing in
the Mite All Star team and
they have played at Byron,
Exeter,- St. Marys, London,
Listowel etc. Scott Wilson also
in this area has played good
•hockey for his very first year, in
fact, his first year on skates.
His father, Bill, has assisted
coaching the Mites. Danny
Redpath, son of OPP Sgt. Red-
path played defence in the
Squirt- League, The Legion
Sailors, winners of the cup in
that league.
THE LITTLE PEOPLE
discovered just what a lovely
place Huron County really is!
We had just started building
our "do-it-yourself" home on
our cedar -clad lot when I had a
visit from the "Little People"
who simply washed a whole
stack of dirty dishes while my
back was turned, or so. rev
friend told me, adding that to
get such favors one MUST
believe in the Little People.
• Little people or not, this is a
good place to live!
SPRING! What Happened?
After watching the hockey game last Saturday night, I couldn't
help but be impressed with this young rookie defern:man, Dave
Fortier of the Toronto Maple Leafs tie took' inti big 'Ted Irvine of
the Rangers and won a unanimous_ decision Fortier has im-
pressed the Leaf brass since he arrived from 'Tulsa about 111 games
ago. He has already wort decisions oyer Garry Unger and Gerry
Meehan, two big strong lads - and he is willing to take 00 anybody
that isn't willing to move from 111 front of that •goal crease
Perhaps the big thing he=als going for hint is the fact that his op-
ponents' are so surprised to see any leaf fighting at alt._.. Dave
Hodge, that cool interviewer on Hockey Night in Canada, really
gave Emile "The Cat" Francis the poison arrow questions' on
Saturday night. Emile was a little irked at Dave, as have many
other recipients of his direct and (•andid questions 1 like that kind
of interview rather than the traditional Ward Cornell questions
like "How are you doing?" and "What end do you use on your
hockey stick''" • • Make sure you get over to the arena this week
and support the. pee -wee hockey tournament. It's great entertain-
ment and as you all know, many current N..H L starts have played
it this tournament Also, he sure to get out and support the
Goderich Sailors, who are currently lucked in a tough series with
the Petrolia !nterniediate squad. W( you next week ,P.S, watch
