out of ow line, but like
Ford Little I too have questions
to which I have been unable to
obtain reasonable answers.
After the open council
meeting, of March lst., i ap-
proached Mro. Palmer. I asked
her just how she, Mrs. Havdon
and the rest of the residents on
Warren 'St: would appreciate
having Yo ',for the Warren
St. Storm Sewer, that will ser-,
vice their .homes, all on their
own. The only answer she 'gave
me was, "That's different."
Now fellow tax pavers, please
tell me why part of my taxes,
under General i.evv should go
to help pay for a Storm Sewer
that will -go right past the
homes.of Mrs. Palmer and Mrs.
Havdon, hut" none of their tax
money is going to help me Pay
for the South Storm Sewer un-
der the Drainage Act. Please
hear in mind that this South
Storm Sewer not only does not
go past my home but in fact is
approximately 1,1)01) ft, from
my nearest fence line!!
My second (luestion is that
since B. M. Ross and A. J. Mur-
phy- were able_. to persuade
Council to take this line of ac-
tion fin fact two men apparen-
tly are able to tell Town Coun-

What really rankles is the
fact that Town Council did not
even have the "GUMPTION"

Dear Editor,
i am forwarding this letter to
you and . also the executive of
Goderich Minor Hockey
Association regarding an in-
cident that occurred the second
day of Young Canada Week at
2:00 p.m.
I and interested to know why
our Pee Wee All-Star coach
would- invite our son 10 play in
the tournament and have hire
partially dress ready to play,
then tell him 'he couldn't play
because he had too many
pl ayers.
I believe 115 a capable coach
this decision could have been
made long before game time.
This type* of a decision has a
-very bad psychological effect 011
a boy of this age.
i understand this same type
of incident occurred last year
and would suggest that
Measures be adapted that it
does not occur again.
• Yours truly,

Dear Editor:
-A few observations after
reading last week's signal star:
Congratulations on the ex-
cellent job your paper is doing
More than ever the people are
being informed as to what is
going on at Goderich Town

When word was received
from the ('R(' that Roy
Ronisteel would be unavailable
as 0 special speaker due to an
assignment in Cuba, it was
learned that Peter Flemington
was ready and .willing to step
into the breach.
While the - name of Peter
Flemington is not nearly- so
well known as Roy Ronisteel, it
was evident that as writer and
director of the World Develop-
ment Films for Man Alive,•
Flemington would he a very
suitable stand-in for Ronisteel.
As Rev. Garwood Russell ex-
pressed it. "After. all, Peter
Flemington was right there. He
was on the scene in the Philip-
-pines and saw the people,. -the
c•ountrrv, the problems.'.
Flemington will he, at (:D('i

brand new film, one that has
not been Viewed 1°10 television

will he ample opportunity for
questions and answers.
Mr. Flemington will also
speak at a men's luncheon, at a
ladies' tc'a and at a (MCI
student assembly during the
same date.
The effort daring "Ten Days

Local paper goofed
Dear Editor:
-1
1 am glad tdiat our hontetown
newspaper is finally leaving the
somewhat sheltered corner of
hesitant and on occasions timid
reserv1tion. i an) delighted
that the local Press has dec•icled
to fight for its, rights', other
peoplewive done it for quite
awhile.
1t has been a pI(asure to see
more updated stand in your
recent editorials and column,
,from attacking the subject of
arrogance on government
levels, to the convenient (lain)
of "misquote..., by elected
representatives, to some very
timely., prodding at the local
councils.
People everywhere . are
becoming increasingly more in-
terested, informed and in-
volved: they have wishes,
preferences and clear directions

visible fight for rights and

column. As a matter -Of sore\

went out .of her way .recently tc
bring into focus her own in-

public's right, to know, and the
Press' right to inform. Whilst

Old Man Winter blew. his final gust of cold and snow at Goderich and area last weekend
leaving motorists sitranded everywhere. On Saturday and for some of Sunday, Ontario
Provincial Police warned motorists to stay off the roads unless it was absolutely necessary
to travel. After spring-like weather for the past few weeks, snow clearing crews were uth-
pMpared -for the major storm which crippled the district, but managed an admirable
cleaning job once the winds and the snow had subsided. (staff photo)
