These teenagers at work for people
It was awards day at Alexandra Marine and General Hospital
Sunday for this group of volunteer Candy Stripers.%rho help

honoiring the teenage volun-
teers at Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital, was held on
Sunday, in the hospital lobby.
Mrs. J. Berry, president of
the Women's .Hospital
Auxiliary, opened the
proceedings with the Auxiliary
Prayer. Mr. Harry Bushell,
Chairman of the Board of
Governors, congratulated the
girls and thanked. them on
behalf of the Board for their
e timed service to the
patients.
Mr. 'T. Elliott, i—Ad-
-ministrator, introduced the
guest speaker, Miss, Mary
Philpott,'Principal of the Perth -
Huron Regional School of
Miss Phi1pott spoke of the
changes made in health care
and especially these made' in
the field of nurses' training
over the past ten years. 'These
changes led up to the current
innovation., of having the
academic training of the nurses
taken over by the Comnlunity
Philt►ott .tated
that this anew step would lead
to a broader field of subjects
open to the students.
Mrs. Berry thanked the guest
speaker and invited everyone to
stay for refreshments.

Nancy Bruhacher, Lynda Cook,

of the Huron Perth Counties
from St. Joseph's Erole lite.
Marie. Kint,'shridge's St.
Joseph, Goderich's St. Mary's
and Victoria Public, along with
Hullett Central attended
another in a series .of five gyrn-
,nastic workshops on, Wed-
nesday -night February 21st at
St. Mary's School in Goderich.
Also on the following night
February 22nd at St. C:olumbalit
'School, fourteen teachers
coming from St.', -Boniface
School in Zurich, 'St.—James
School in Seaforth, St.
Patrick's School in Dublin, St.
Patrick's School in Kinkora
and St. Mary's School in
Hesson joined with _ teachers
,from Blyth, and Hullett Central
Schools to actively participate
in the fourth, workshop.
Mr. David Keyho, Program
Consultant from Midwestern
Ontario Region Ministry of
Education conducted these
workshops: He made optimum
use of many wall charts to em-
phasize that gymnastics play a
- prominent role in -the
"PHYSICAL : EDUCATION
PROGRAMME".
In his introduction, teachers
were asked to move. about the
room using speed and direction.
At first, many followed a rir-
cular direction but later
travelled over the floor in
y`arious individual directions
with changes in speed.
Then they moved other than
on the feet, as they used hands
and feet, hands and knees, and
other personal conceived man-
ners of movement. Each had
the opportunity to use their
own ideas ai; vehicles of ways
and means to use the various
body parts to fully utilize

a single activity or in a
sequence of skills which further
compliment, a smooth flow of .
individual body parts. Next,
they -became very cognizant of
the space readily available to
each student and the skills and
enjoyment which results from
these formative 'lessons.'
- Finally, they could associate

fellow students in these
movements that can be shared
in , group situations and
necessary team work which
eventually produce a learning
experience of doing gymnastics,
doing it better and 'in time,
doing it' well.
The fifth land final
Workshop will take place on
Wednesday, February 28th., at
Northwestern Secondary
School Gymnasium in Strat-
ford.

Riddle Aeronautical University
Honor Roll for the fall term.
