Once he tried keeping them in his barn but they constantly strutted hack and forth until he finally let them out.. "One winter he,,' had a hig mother goose that was setting on her six eggs. The snow con- tinued to fall- until only her head was not covered.. Mr. McClinchev knowing she would not move, went out to feed her regularly. Finally, the eggs hatched and five out of six sur- vived. Recently, Mr. McClinchev sold 13 pair of geese to Wien in Winnipeg, ' Toronto and Crediton. . He feels the number of geese sold to various pc'ophe last year will just about . pay for the pond. This very interesting "hobby" however, will always remain as such according to Mr. McClinchev. Although genuinely in- terested and caring for the welfare of these great birds, he feels it is everyone's respon- sibilitry to protect our dwindling wildlife and1 their environment. Bruce McClinchey of R.R. 2.Goderich estimates that about 600 Canada Gees visit his sanc- tuary every fall on their way south. He currently is building a landing pond on his property - at a cost of about $900:
