The first cable hookup in Goderich took place Monday February 19, at about 2 p.m. in the.
home of °-Mr. and Mrs. Archie Wilkin of 129 Hincks Street. Ten television stations are
available including 3 Detroit, Bay City, Wingham, London, Windsor, Hamilton, Kitchener and

The annual meeting of The
Ahmeek Chapter 1.0.D.E. was
held on February 12 at the
home of Mrs. A___.0 iolmes. The
Regent, MFA. R. Neville
presided.
In the absence of the
secretary, Mrs. Mills, her duties
were undertaken by Mrs.
Holmes.
As the convenors read their in-
dividual reports an interesting
and pleasing picture was
revealed, portraying the un-
tiring efforts of all members, to
make the past year another
.very' rewarding--enar-
The secretary's report was
very informative and most in-
teresting, detailing our accom-
plishments, also noted the par-
ticipation of our members with
other organizations canvassing
for Cancer, Red Cross etc.
The treasurer's report was
read by Mrs. G. Henderson for
.Mrs. Donnelly.It showed the
chapter had donated very
generously to' worthwhile
causes locally, and also to
Provincial and National Funds.
The membership report
showed an increase in the
membership, due to the un-
tiring efforts of Mrs. Murray
the convenor. Reporting for
Education Mrs. Robinson in-
formed us , " that the annual
awards were made also 53
calendars were given to the
schools. They are very happy
to receive these. In addition,a
number of pictures of the Royal
Family were presented to the
various schools. These pictures
were donated to the Chapter,
for this purpose, by -Mrs. Gib-
bons.
$100 was awarded to a ,student
nurse.
The Past Regent, Mrs. Habel,
reported for Echoes. Mrs. Ruf-
fle, Standard Bearer, noted the
Standards were placed at all
meetings. The Canadian Stan-
dard was present at . the
Cenotaph Service and both
Standards at the Remembrance
Service held at St. George's
Church.
Mrs. Sitter read the Services
secretary's report in the ab-
sence -`of Mrs._Cutt. It showed a

Mrs. Straughan is to be
congratulated on the way in
which she looks after 'the 'sick
and shut-ins, always taking
'time to write a• note of comfort
in each card she sends. She has
sent 69 cards .during the -past
year.
Public Relations convenor,
Mrs. Holmes..has always made
certain than any project under -
"taken to make money, has been
well advertised. Also all
meetings are reported to the
local press. World -Affairs con-
venor, Mrs. Clairmont, and
Social Convenor, Mrs. Hender-
son were commended by the
Regent, for their contributions
to themeetings during the year.
Telephone convenors, Mrs.
D. McMillan and Miss Elder
have been very faithful in their
duties, making certain all mem-
bers were called, contributing
to the success of all projects.

Mrs. Neville thanked the
members for their co-operation
in the work of The Order and
noted that hecause of their
combined efforts, many. people
have been helped and all mem-
bers should feel a sense of pride
in belonging to The Imperial
Order Daughters of the Empire.

Officers for 1973. The names
