COMMENTS
The Rotary Bantam All -
Stars travelled to St. Mary s
last Wednesday night for an
exhibition game and managed
a tie.
The game ended -four-all.
The only player who played
hockey was Bill Walters as he
came up with a two -goal perfor-
mance.
. I understand Russ is working
out of town and still reads our
column, and will be back to
referree during Lions Young
Canada Week. The Team
which Don Aweky played for
was Waterloo and the year was
1954.
MITE ALL-STARS
The Legion Auxiliary Mite
All -Stars played a fast moving
game Saturday night February
17th in -the Goderich Memorial
Arena, when they came up
against Exeter ending with a 2-
2 tie,
David Eastwood opened the
scoring, in the first period when
he stored unassisted. •Exeter
came right back and tied it up.
The second period went
scoreless.
David Eastwood assisted by
Joey Morrissey scored early in
the 3rd period to put Goderich
in the lead. Although Goderich
fought hard, they couldn't hold
Exeter back as they scored late
in the 3rd period to make it a 2
all tie.
Coaches Denis Williamson
and Doug Huff report that
David Eastwood and Joey
Morrissey played a strong
game, and Greg Marshall
fought hard on defense.
MITE HOUSE LEAGUE
Monday February - 12th,
MacDonald Marine and
Graham Electric came up with
a 1-1 tie. Tini' Lassalinescored
the Graham Electricgoal in the
1st period with David Mahood
picking up the assist.
Greg Kirkconnell scored for
Mac Donald Marine late in the
second period unassisted.
Wednesday February .' I4th,
Bedford Hotel defeated
Canadian Tire by a score of 4-
2. David McDonald came up
'with 2 goalsfor Bedford Hotel.
David Gallow and Ken Huff
each got singles.
David Gallow; Scott Profit,
Mark Crawford and Paul Mur-
phy shared, the assists. Todd,
Rittinger and Scott Russ got
the goals for Canadian Tire
assisted . by Andrew Telford
and Daryl Madge.
Friday February 16th,
MacDonald Marine defeated
Canadian Tire by a score of 4-
1. The first „period Gwent
scoreless. Greg Kirkconnell
scored the first goal for
MacDonald Marine in the 2nd
period assisted by John Peters.
Greg Marshall made it 2-0
when he scored - tit assiste d
Greg Marshall scored the 3rd
goal-- for MacDonald Marine
assisted by Jamie Daer. Todd
Rittinger scored the lone goal
for Canadian Tire unassisted.
Greg Kirkconnell got his 2nd
assisted by Dave •Buxton.

tric played ' a 4-4 tie. David

and Greg Lapaine picked up
the assists. Scott Wilson scored
for Graham Electric assisted by
Ron Stoddard.
Tim Lassaline tied it up as
he scored for Graham Electric
assisted by Brent Williamson. advance to 'the play-offs.
Mike Eastwood put Graham
Electric in the lead when he
scored his first goal of the
season - Scott Wilson and Ron
Stoddard setting him up.
Del Bedard assisted by Scott
Wilson opened thca...,scoring in
the 3rd period . -for Graham
Electric. Matk Crawford got
the 3rd goal for Bedford Hotel,
assisted by David Gallow.
David Gallow tied up the game
when he scored unassisted.
NOVICE
HOUSE LEAGUE
In Tuesday's game, ,the
Legion Sailors came up with
one of their; best games to date,
as they white -washed Glen -
mark Homes 3-0. Robert Cum-
mings obtained his second
shut -out of the season and
came -up with `„Several good
saves.
Steven Walters led the attack
for the Sailors, as" he scored the
first goal of 'the game. John
Clements and John Alexander
scored the other goals, both of
`them played a 'strong two way
game.
• Mark Carman and Randy
Middel set up the first two
goals of the game. Dan Red-
path arid Dan Freeman both
played a standout game arid
continue to improve each game.
In the first game of the
double-header, Friday night,
the Legion Sailors came hack to
tie Kentucky Fried Chicken
two -all. John Alexander
opened the scoring for the
Sailors and Jeff Denomy tied
the game one -all before the end
of the first.
Robert Jeffrey scored in th
third, period to give Kentucky
Fried Chicken a 2-1 lead and it
looked like a sure victory for
Col. Saunders' boys; but Steve
Walters scored in the final
minu o grthe Sailors a tie:
,T a second game ,also ended
in a tie, as it was play-off
hockey at its best. Both goalies
were outstanding, Robert Huff
for. the Fryers and Brian
Shewfelt for Goderich Electric.
David Hill scored Goderich
Electric's only goal,,.when Dean
Boura set him up. • Brian
Fellows ,scored,, the Legi.tt'nL,
Flyers' goa! as Ted Dohei$ty
drew the assist.
The final score was one -all,
both teams had numerous
chances to score but failed to
put the puck into the net as it
was a close checking game.
First 'game Saturday morning
Feb. 17, Goderich Electric won
1-0 as they clenched .first place
with nineteen points with only
two remaining .games in the
schedule 1eftrfor each team.
.Kentucky Fried Chicken just,
couldn't ' score on Brian
Shewfelt as he picked up
another shutout to lead his
team , to victory: -The .only goal''
of the game came off the stick
of -Marty " Middell .as he
knocked in Todd Feibelkarn's
rebound.
Legion Flyers and Glenmark
Homes played a scoreless game
(3rd tie game of the week).
Both net -minders were superb
as they stopped several shots
which were labelled.
League standings are very
close for second position as the
Legion Sailors have 14 points,
Flyers 13 points, Glenmark
Homes 12, and Kentucky Fried
Chicken 11.
Convenor Bill Reed ' advises
that 4th and 5th spot finishers
will play off for the final

HOUSE LEAGUE
Monday, Feb. 12th., saw
Sifto Salt white -wash Goderich
Motors 6-0. Brian Reid scored
4 goals to lead Sifto Salt to the
victory oyer Goderich Motors.
In the first period, Reid
scored the first goal on a pass
from Brian Sowerty. Rick
Stoddard ,set up Reid's second
goal and then scored the third.

knocked ' the puck , in off the
goaltender's stick. Sifto picked
up two goals in the third ,period
as Reid scored unassisted, and
Jacques Richard scored from
Murphy. There were 3 penalties
handed out in the game, all to
Sifto Salt.
Thursday, February 15. Sifto
Salt and Goderich Motors met
for the second time this week
and in a well played and evenly
matched gamer, Sifto emerged
the victors by a 3-1 count.
In the first period, the teams
went from end to»end with the
only goal coming at the midway
point as Terry Kisch set up
Brian Reid. Jacques Richard
scored early in the 2nd period
on a three-way passing play
with Ricky Stoddard and Brian
Reid.

In the dying minutes of the
3rd period, . Sifto took two
overlapping penalties, putting
them two men short. Goderich
Motors pulled their gtaltender
to increase their advantage.
Sifto fought frantically to keep
the puck away from their net.,
They managed to carry the
play into the Goderich Motors'
end'where Bruce Melick's long
shot through a maze of players
was tipped into the empty net
by Pat Murphy. Larry McGee
played a ,strong two-way game,
and Terry Kisch was a stan-
dout on defence.
Saturday's game was a high
scoring affair as ' Club—Grill
came fr"qm a'' 4-0 `,-deficit to
'`?defeat t3'oderich Restaurant 5-
4. Terry Schoemaker scored all
4 goals for the Goderich
Restaurant team, as Glen Hut-
chins set up 2 of them.
Club Grill came back with
Ted, Atfield, Dale Duncan, Don
Coughlan, Gerry Wunnick and
Stephen Doney all scoring for
the winners. Randy Stoddard
and Dale Duncan each drew
assists in the game.
BANTAM
HOUSE LEAGUE
In the first game, Monday
evening, February 12th., McGee.
Motors trounced Denorngte
Flowers 5-0. Paul Duckworth
and Brian Good shared the
shut -out for the winners. Five
players figured in the 'scoring
for McGee's as Steve Meriam
picked up a goal and an assist,
as did Mike Burley, who had
the same.
Mike King, Glen Hutchins
and Ken Straughan were the
other goal scorers. John Fuller
and Bill Sanderson played a
strong game for McGee's, and
each picked "up an assist.
Don Hoist Real Estate are on
their longest winning streak as
they continue to fight for the
first place, as they defeated
Goderich Elevator 5-3 in a
welhplayed game with only 3
penalties.
Goderich Elevator took a 2-0
lead on goals by Steven Crew,
Doug Sproule assisting, and
Steve Chase with Paul Parsons
assisting. Don Hoist came back `l
with three quick goals by
Wayne Mahood, Doug Redpath
and Bill Gauley before the first
period ended.
Getting assists on these goals''
were Terry Prouse, Pete Crew
and Karl Leblanc. In the
second, period, Don Hoist did
all the scoring, as Bill Gauley
got his second of the night, and
Pete Crew got the other;
assisting on these goals were
Wayne Mahood, Doug Redpath
and Don Kirkconnell.
Goderich Elevator got the
only goal of the third period as
Steve Chase scored his second
goal, with Le Roy Meriam
assisting.
In Thursday's game, Don
Hoist defeated Denomme
Flowers 5-2. One of the most
improved, players in the Ban -
tarn division.this year is Pete
Crew, as he came up with a hat
trick to lead Don Hoist to vic-
tory.
Paul Schaeferopened the
scoring for Don Hoist
unassisted in the first period.
Denornme Flowers tied the
game,- as Rick Healey scored„
with Kevin Williams assisting;
Denomme Flowers' other
goal was scored by, Bob
Overholt, also unassisted. Don
Kirkconnell picked up an assist
and a goal, and Brian Meriam
got two assists for Don Holst's
other points.
In the other game, McGee's
won 3-0 over Goderich
Elevator, to end up in first
place in the standings. Paul
Duckworth and Brian Good
came up with another shut -out
for McGee's . Mike Burley
opened- the scoring in the first
period, unassisted.
