A. The "Save the Jail Society" stepped up their efforts"this week to save the former Huron County Jail from the wrecking ball. A rally has been called by the society for February 20 at the Goderich High School at which speakers, interested in saving the building, will suggest how this end can be best served. Entertainers Earl and Martha Haywood will also be on hand. Mr.' Haywood recently completed a song about the NOTES FROM JNE NILE Mrs. Jack Clemeais 529-7641 The annual meeting was well attended on Monday afternoon, beginning with a Pot Luck din- ner at 1 p.m. The ladies of the U.C.W. would like to say "Thank You" to each girl who helped serve the dinner for the wedding guests on Satixrday at Saltford. Their help was very much ap- preciated. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brin- dley celebrated their 40 an- niversary recently. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew (Sonny) Moore in Goderich. There were 21 guests and cards were enjoyed by everyone: A smorgasbord lunch was served after which Louise and Russell received a lot of lovely gifts from neighbors and friends. Amongst the gifts was a Sheaf fer pen desk set from Leonard and his wife and a lovely' little oil lamp from the grand- children. Sympathy of the- community is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jewell and family in the sudden passing of their son Francis and daughter Shirley. • Mrs. Robert Madsen is still` in London Hospital but is hoped she will soon be home.
