Farmers at the recent
Canadian Federation of
Agriculture annual meeting
resolved to press the federat
government for amendmends to
the Income Tax Act, before far-
mers file their 1972 taxes.
Canada's largest,, farm
organization seeks a valuation -
day value for all farm produc-
tion quotas. Before December
31, 1971, the government put
no monetary value on quotas.
't'hen, from V -Day, January 1,
1972, the government alloted
these same quotas full market
value. "On paper this creates
overnight , an instant, but
unreal capital gain. We will not
pay this unjust tax," protests
Gordon Bill, Ontario
Federation of Agriculture
president.

bean and hog farmer from

The CFA seeks an amend-
ment to eliminate capital gains
tax on farms transferred within
a family. The ` Ontario
delegation to the meeting also

"We met with the .federal

Now, one year has passed. It's
time to file our income tax

"We explained, and repeated

no possible misunderstanding.
We've tried to be nice guys, and
to resolve this in round -table
discussion. Now it's time to
start stepping on toes and
kicking shins. Farmers are tired
of waiting."
"The CFA meeting also
passed a. follow-up resolution
calling for all provincial farm
organizations to inform. com-

could still be made before the
