Jock Pirie and George Simons of the Goderich Labor Council,, met last week- with
representatives of the Addiction Research Foundation and Co -Pilot" (the Local Initiatives
sponsored youth information group) to hammer out plans for a drug information seminar to
be held ins mid February. The program will be aimed particularly at adults but will include
valuable information for alt age groups according to the organizers. It is planned It is plan-
ned that the seminar , wily be held at the Goderich Psychiatric Hospital. Above, Murray
Moore of the A.F.R. outlines some of the proposed lines of discussion during last week's
meeting at the Co -Pilot headquarters ons, H milt -en`, Street. (staff photo)
By Maurice Blanchard
Quite a few people have been
wondering exactly what Co -
Pilot is about. One of the more
frequent things heard said
about us is that we are just a
bunch of kids who have 'suc-
cessfully "ripped -off" the
government.
Due to the holiday season it
has been quite difficult to set
the programme in full motion
but as of January second we
hope to have our office com-
pletely organized and open
regularly. Office hours will he
9:00 a.m. to 11:0)) p.m. from
Monday to Thgrsday and 9:00
a.m. to 1:00 a.m. on Fridays
and ,Saturdays. The office will
be aimed all day Sunday,
For those people who feel
that now we have our grant we
are just going to sit around and
waste our tirrie for six months
here is a brief look at what has
happened so far.
Thursday, December 21 we
hosted a meeting with George
Simons of G.I).L.C.,- Murray
Moore from A.R.F., •I.A.T. Pirie
lliusiness Agent, Carpenters
Union) and Ray Murray of
C.L.C. The purpose of the.
meeting was to discuss a
workshop on drug and alcohol
abuse within the area: Plans
were drawn,rup and a formal
announcement will he made
shortly by George Simons on
the date and whereabouts of
tbe workshop.
The staff also undertook in-
' eiior renovations of their Co -
Pilot office and the job was suc-
i.essfully completed," thanks to
the help and advice of Mr. Reg
Huckins.
