HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Goderich Signal-Star, 1972-12-21, Page 31Dear Ann Landers: 1 don't
know . how many times I've
read letters in your column
from mothers ,who yearn for
more time, with their sons. Yet,
so many of . them drive their •
sons away without realizing it.
I saw an example of this redenw
tly when. my brother and his
wife -:dropped by to see Mom
and Dad last Sunday. Here's
the conversation:
Mom: "Robert, dear, you
look tired. Are you feeling all
right?"
Robert: "I'm fine, Mother."
Mom: "Mary, dear,. are you
sure Robert has been getting
enough rest? His color isn't
good. Those circles under his
eyes worry me."
•....MArV ""He's fine, Monier." •
Mom: "I'd feel better, son, if
you'd see Dr. Howard for a
checkup. You don't look a bit
well to me."
By that time both Mary and
Bob remember they . must be
somewhere in fifteen minutes
and off they go, after having
spent less than, half an hour
with Mom and Dad.
Mom turnedto me and said,
"It's too bad young people are
so busy these days that they
can't find time for ' their
parents. Robert, and Mary
haven't been to see us in three
weeks, and they stayed such A
short time:"
Please print this letter, Ann.
It - might explain some
things.—Seen It, Happen
Dear Seen It: One of the laws
of nature is that all living
creatures go•where they are -
comfortable and avoid places
where they are uncomfortable.
Thanks for providing the living
proof.
Dear Ann . Landers No on'e"'
has presented the "other side"
of the pornography issue so I'd
like to say. something. My
father-in-law° #s a .classic exarh-
ple. Stashed in his basement is
a fantastic collection. I agree
it's childish, as you have poin-
ted out repeatedly, but he ,
doesn't need help from a doc-
tor, he needs help from his wife.
The guy is in -his mid -50's and'
he hasn't had any 'sex in nearly
20 years. (In case you are won-
dering how I know, he cried on
his son''s shoulder in a weak
moment.)
Some women need less sex
than their husbands. But real
love starts when another per-
son's needs become more im-
portant than your own.
Perhaps these men don't
complain to their wives because
they are good homemakers,
good mothers, and they love
and respect them. But believe
me, if my mother-in-law would
get off her high horse and give
her husband a little physical
excitement (and I don't mean
putting up with him, passively, e
once 'a week) he'd probably
burn his whole bloomin' por-
nography collection.

Sorry, dear, but most porno
lovers are not deprived, they
are adolescent. I'm not talking
about men who enjoy an oc-
casional look --I mean the ones
who get their -jollies from
"collections" ,,and make a
major hobby out of it.
