In another exhibition game
played Saturday night in the
Go erich Arena, the Mite-
ouse League B Team
• defeated Bayfield 3-0. Tom
Profit, got the first goal from
Greg Kirkconnell, Paul Murphy
the second goal from Scott
Ross, and the final goal was by
John Peters with Frazer Abbott
assisting.
• LEGION MITE ALL-STARS
On Saturday, December 9,
the MiteAll-'Stars travelled to
South London where they
defeated London by a score of
4-3. Goderich goals were scored.
by: Joey Morrisey with two and
A Jim Mathers and Daryl
Graham, who got the last two
goals.
It was a see -saw game the
whole way through- with Daryl
Graham's last goal winning the
game for Goderich. Joey
▪ Morrisey, Kevin . Campbell and
Daryl Graham picked upthe
assists.
Coaches Denny Williamson
and Doug Huff report the
whole team has improved and
the team's defenceman played
their best game of the season.
* They come . up against an A
Ateam from South West Lon-
don next Saturday night in the
Goderich arena, which should
be an interesting game.
MITE HOUSE LEAGUE
Monday, December 4, at
4:30, Legion Sailors .4,
Canadian Tire 0. Jeff
Denomme recorded his, third
shut -out in four games as the
Legion Sailors played their
positiorfs well, and it was again
a strong team effort by the
team. That got them the vic-
tory.
Joey Morrisey got.two of the
goals, while Scott ;Wilson and
-Jim Mathers scored singles.
David Eastwood and Jim
Mather picked up assists on
w two of the goals.
Thursday, December 7 at
5:00 p.m., . Bedford Hotel 2,
MacDonald Marine 0. Another
shut -out was recorded but I
-don't have the=- goal -tender' -s
name. Dave Gallow and Tom
t Profit did all the scoring as
they each picked up a goal and
an assist.
LEGION NOVICE
ALL'STARS,
The. Goderich Legion Novice
All -Stars won one game and
lost orie in regularly scheduled
W.O.A.A. play last weekend.
Saturday in Seaforth the
Legionnaires came up with a
91b -par performance then -I-
se and ran into a fired up
Seaforth team and a red-hot
goaltender named Don McLure
enrou'te to a 6-3 loss. The loss
was the first in four games for
Goderich..
John VanBakel had two
goals for Seaforth, as did John
Anstett while Bob ',ane and
John McLure got the others.
For Goderich, Larry Madge
and Robert MacDonald each
had a, goal and an assist. Jim
Fritzley scored the, other goal,
assisted by Larry Gaynor.
On Sunday, the Novice All -
Stars carne back with a
vengeance, shutting out Mit-
chell, 8-0, in a game played in
Mitchell,
Robert MacDonald scored
five goals and had one assist to
lead the rout, while. Larry
Madge had two' goals and two
• assists. Danny Maillet scored
the other goal. Mike Hodges
had three assists, while Stuart
Crew and Jim Costello , were
each credited with an assist.
Harold Sartori went all the
way in the Goderich goal to
record the shutout.
Coaches Don Elliott and
Dick Madge were pleased with
the way the team used the pat-
tern of play which the Goderich
Minor. Hockey Association is
attempting to establish . this
season throughout the whole
season.
The Novice All -Stars have
two home games coming up this
weekend, with Bayfield playing
here dFriday night at 6:30 p.m.
in a W.O.A.A. game, and then
.on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. they
will take on South West Lon-
don in an exhibition game.
This 'London 'team is one of
the top rated "AA" Novice
teams in the area, so the Legion
will have their work cut out for
them in that one. Goderich has
a record of four wins and one
loss in games played so far this
season.
The Novice All -Stars will be
playing in two tournaments
over the Christmas holidays.
On Boxing Day, December 26,
they will he playing in the Kin-
cardine Winter Games Novice
Tournament and on Thursday
Dec. 28, they begin play in the
International Silver Stick
Hockey Tournament in Forest.

Monday, December 4, at
6:30, Goderich, .,Motors 2,
Goderich Restuarant 1. Only

ceptionally good hockey. Bruce
Dougherty opened the scoring

score one -all. This didn't last
long as Bill Shewfelt scored.the
winning goal at the 8:34 mark,
to give Goderich Motors the
victory.
Tuesday, December 5 at 7:00,
',Sifto Salt 0, Club Grill 6. Scott
Williams obtained his_ first
shut -out as Larry Daer and Jan
Chisholm .combined with two
goals each to lead Club Grill.
Brian Reid and Bruce Melick
picked up the other goals as
Tony Bedard, Dwayne Ross
and Bruce Miller drew assists
i'tithe game.
BANTAM HOUSE LEAGUE
Monday, Dec. 4 at 7:30,
Goderich Elevator 4, Denomme
Flowers 2. Goderich Elevator
opened • the scoring with two

Steve Chase scored. Paul Par-
son's assisted on both goals.
Denomme Flowers came back
with two quick goals to tie the
game two -all as Dennis" Reid
and Jim Smith got .the goals.
Tim Evans and Ron Hesk set
them up. Jim Horton scored
what proved to be the winning
goal for Goderich Elevator,
unassisted, and the final goal
was scored by Ben Worsell,
also unassisted.
Monday, Dec. 4 at 8:36,
second game, McGee Motors 4,
Don Hoist 3. , McGee Motors
managed to come up with two
points as Ken Straughan got
the winning goal late in the
third period. At one time they
led 3-1 but blew this 'lead as
Carl LeBlanc, John Parsons
and Brian Meriam each got a
goal for the Losers, Don Hoist.
Mike Burley scored two goals
while the other. McGee point -
getters were Mike King with a
goal, . Brad Evanshen, Glen
Hutchins and Shannon Niblock
drew assists in the game.
McGee's looked very good,
passing improved, and they
deserved their win as , they
played' as a team.
Thursday, December 7, two
games played,. no reports han-
ded in, or scores. Future games:

sus McGee Motors, and in the

Flowers take on dodArich

Jeff King scored the only goal
of the game and Goderich
Motors have now won two
straight. Setting King up was
Boyce. (I wish the coaches
would give me a list 'of their
roster - first names. Some of
these players I know, but not
all of them.) •
Saturday. December 9, at 11,
Goderich Restuarant 1, Club
Grill 5. A high scoring game in
which` tarry Daer scored four
goals to lead Club Grill to their
second straight victory. The
other goal for the winners was
by Brian Reid. Spoiling the
shut -out •for Club Grill was
Dale Duncan who scored
unassisted early - in the first
period.
ROTARY BANTAM
, ALL-STARS
•
The Goderich Rotary Ban-
tam All -Stars continue to lose
as they went down to two more
defeats Oast 'week: On December
6 they travelled to Seaforth
and lost 3-2.
The only bright spot was
Mike Cummings as he stayed
out of 'thepenalty box and
picked up a goal and an assist."'
Rick Moody got the other goal
for Goderich. -
Saturday night back in
Goderich against Mitchell, they
only, played one good period of
hockey as Mitchell won 7-5. At
the end of the second period
Mitchel led 4-1 as Tim
McLean got the only Goderich
goal from Paul McKay.
Starting the third period,
Scott Kennedy made it 4-2,
then Fisher for Mitchell .who
was the star of the game as he
scored three golals in the game,
gave the visitors a 5-2 lead,
Rick Moody tied' the _game
with three quick goals 5-5 but
Mitchell was not to be
defeated as thry got the last
two goals. Final score 7-5.

KINSMEN MIDGET
ALL-STARS
Sunday afternoon's game in
Goderich, on December 10,;
against Clinton was close for
two'periods only. Then the roof
fell in as Lee -Arbour and Grant
Shelton each scored two goals.
Playing without regulars,
defenceman Jerry and Tom
O'Brien, the Kinsmen team
used Mike'' Donnelly and John
Hanly, and both these players
came up with their best game of
the season.
Allan Worgan opened the
scoring, and Mike Palmer made
it two -nothing at the end of the
second, period. Keith Williams
shared his shut -out with Rick
Sowerby who made two sen-
sational saves in the last few
minutes of the game.
PEE WEE ALLSTAR
Goderich Pee Wees played
just one game last week when
they travelled to Seaforth.
After the Squirts took it on
the chin 6-3 the Pee Wees took
the ice immediately afterward
and turned the tide on the
Seaforth Pee Wees 3-1.
Goderich was up • for the
game and before the game was
seconds old the tempo of the
game was set. ,The hockey was
hard hitting, fast and 'clean
with only six minor peftalties
being handed out.
Paul Helesic visited the sin -
bin three times. Paul turned in.
a strong skating, hard hitting
game and led the team through
the early portion of the game.
He picked up a goal on sheer ef-
fort. Gary Peters did not score
in this game but played
aggressively both ways. The
other two Goderich goal scorers
were Mike Lapaine and Paul
Dougherty: •r,
This was a team effort all the
(way and Goderich deserved the
win. Both goalies played their
best games of the season as

HOCKEY NOTES
A team picked from the
Goderich Bantam • Hou4e
League played a similar Clin-
ton team at Clinton Arena,
atur.day, Dec 2
Both teams were comprised
of mostly first year Bantams,
and the Goderich boys won 9-3.
One line accounted for five
goals: Don Kirkconnell, 2,
Shannon Niblock, 1, and Paul
Schaefer , 2. Defensemen Fred
Jewell and Tom Sager backed
this line with fine checking and
started some good plays.
The other line made up the
other four goals: Benny Wor-
sell, 3, and Steve Chase, 1.
Ricky Frisby got two assists.
Bill Sanderson and Ron Hesk
on defense, made this another
promising unit: Goderich goalie
made few mistakes. Brian
Good and Murray Irwin shared
the honours.
