with huge crowds of local
residents turning out to see the
colorful event. T'he' parade
featured floats from many ser-
vice .clubs, schools, churches,
industries- and" companies as
wellas bands.
Sponsored and ,organized by
a special committee through
the Goderich Recreation Board
and directed by the local Kin-
, smen club the parade floats
were. judged in five different
categories, Sehool, Service,
Youth, Isiiustrial-and General.
In the School division first
prize of $50.00 went to
rie CentraYx School 'withw
their entry of "Mary Had a Lit-
tle Lamb." Second to
Holmesville School ($25.00)
who entered a manger scene.
Third place prize of, $15.00
went to Victoria Schools "Book
Worm" ..float.
Fire Truck curries Mayor
... The Kinsmen Club float, a
bi-plane, took top spot in the
Service division. Second place
was taken. by the Ahmeek
Chapter of the I.O.D.E. and St.
George's Anglican Church took
third spot.
Bethel Pentecostal won the
$50.00 first prize in the Youth
division followed by .the Girl
Guides in second place and the
Brownies in third.
The $15.00 first ---prize for an
industrial float went to Randy
Scott while Frank Dam took
the $10.00 . second prize and
third went to M. Cummings.
In the General Category the -
Goderich Psychiatric Hospital
took the $50.00 first place prize.
The East Street Neighbors, a
float entered by Ron Bushell,
was second winning $25.00 and
the Speidel entry, Jonah and
the Whale, was third.
The floats were judged by a
three man committee consisting
of Mike Rogers, Tim Elliott
and‘.Bert Such.
