The, other nits I watched i( .
small group of baton twirlers
that Margaret Jean Craig, is
shaping up rer the Banta
Parade. •
These little ones were really
cuteand doing fine - considering
the short time p •they have been
practising,
I was 'fascinated by the way.
the tiny ones quickly learn by
just copying - or following the
bigger girls, The. "Majorette
"Step" was no problem the lit-
tle legs keeping the rythm, but
the twirling of the baton was.
little slow as they would watch
the older ones and then add a
few twirls to their own version
of -what was being done.
You just had to smile - but
they were so serious. Some day
they will step Tright 'along with'
the " wee majorette group -that
'Mrs. Craig is working so hard
with and whether or not they
are ready for their big debut on
Deeember-seeond; then'vvij1 stiff"
be a real crowd pleaser.
Marching and twirling takes'
TIME to learn and I was sur-
prised and pleased to see how
well the group was progressing.
So, there you have another big
effort by 'a nice little lady for
your pleasure at Santa time.
Thanks, Margaret Jean!
I see our Goderich Sailors
Hockey Team is in the thick of
things again.

Sunday they * return, to Port

hope some of the local fans will
follow them to this game.
this game.
There are a great many 1973
"Hospital Calendars" in the
homes here, and I have a, good
date for them.
January 4, 5 and 6, 1974, lit-
tle Pam, Craven and partner
Rusty Ormandy will be com-
peting in the Western Ontario
Figure Skating Competitions to
be held in St. Catharines.
These two young people
deserve your admiration" and
support and the Club hopes you
will be interested enough to
follow them to this important
competition.
The Figure Skating .Club has
grown''beautifully (-literally) in
the last ten years.
They have a Bake Sale later
this month and will enter a float
in Santas Parade. They have-
decided on their dates for their
next Carnival, so mark it, too, in
"that'new calendar March 2 and
:3 - the Skaters Carnival.
Did you• read that the Signal
Star is really serious about the
"Save the Jail" bit? They have
set up a trust fund at the
Canadian Imperial Bank of
Commerce, on the Square, and
all monies will be used "in a
manner agreeable to those who
have contributed" toward
saving the former Huron County
.Jail from destruction."
Many worthwhile ideas have
been put forth- and there is cer-
tainly a, great basis from which
to work.
Your donations may be left at
the Bank. or ..the Signal Star -,
receipts are issued - and there's
'no way that you are going to
lose your money as it is to be
returned to you if they are not
used. So help get this project on
its way, your young ones will
thank you - years from now - for
your foresight.
Well, dear friends, I'm glad
you have enjoyed the letters
from Marg and Fred Fester on
their big trip by sailing ship all
the way to Florida - the Gulf
side.
Several have asked if the
other couple, Fran and Bert.
Corbett- who started out for the
Italian as'about the smile 'time -
-had been heard from. Did' you
see the "Letter from the
Mississippi" in last weeks
paper? They are travelling the
'Inland Water Way' also and'
finding people are friendly and
the trip exciting. I hope Terry
will send in more ° of his
mother's letters since we ARE
interested.
