(staff photo) gasket oss record av all win The UDCI. girls' 'basketball teams made their first start of • the season here last Tuesday against Windham ' e Goderich girls won the senior game 34-26 on a come -from -behind victory, while the local juniors dropped • a 23-13 verdict, in a' game that saw Wingham dominate the fourth quarter, after an evenly, played first half. Tanya Palmer led all scorers in the senior game, hitting for 12 points •for Goderich. Carol Cruickshank hooped seven, while Becky Crawford added six points in the winning cause, with Wendy Ryan (four points), Micky Cruickshank and Mary Ellen McGill (two points each) and Marj Taylor (one point) completing the scoring, for Goderich. Gail McPherson, with ,10 points and Sharon Riley with eight, were tops for the Wingham .seniors. For the 'Goderich juniors, Chris Wildgen was tope scorer with six " points. Helen MacDonald and Sherry Boyce had two points apiece, while Lori Keller, who also played a strong defensive game, added one point. Julie Fairies, with seven points, was the top scorer for the 'victorious Wingham team; while Jan McPherson contributed six to the winner's total. In games played here on Monday, both the seniors• and juniors lost to Listowel. The ', junior score was 21-12, while the senior score was 30-23 for Listowel. In the senior game, Micky Cruickshank was the top scorer for Goderich, with "10 points. Cathy Town of Listowel. was the game's high point -getter with 11. The halftime score saw Goderich on top 13-8, but a strong second half gave Listowel the victory. It was the sime story in the junior contest, where Goderich led . 8-3 at• the half, but fell behind to stay in thee fourth quarter. , GDCI's Chris Wildgen was the game's top scorer with six points. Three Listowel players each had four points: Rhonda Drover, Darlene Dubrick, and Anne Stratychuk. The girls' teams both play today (Thursday) at Stratford Central and next Tuesday at St. Marys. GDCI' • junior Vikings football team made their first two starts winning ones in Huron -Perth Conference activity •. by beating ,St. Marys 14-0 and Central Huron of Clinton 12-2 in games played in St. Marys last Thursday and in Goderich on Monday. ' Against St. Marys, the junior Vikings got • a first-half touch- down from Grant Shelton who scooped' up a St. Marys'punt -blocked by Bob Hodges and ran 25 yards forthe major score. Gerry O'Brien added a two- point conversion on an end run.
