Whether we like it or not, we
have to recognize that we are
living, today in a totally inter-
related world. Yet too often we
fail to take seriously the words
of the poet John Donne who
said a long time ago: "No man
is an island".
When we think about this, we
realize that in this kind of a
world, there is no longer any

and ages in our society learn
and think of this. truth the better
it is .going to be for us all.
Now; all of e`this involves our
.seeing and accepting a new kind •
of liberty - a liberty ' that 'is
based not upon pleasing our-

beyond the unrestrained idea of
"I'll do just what I please and

of. the true credentials of a

worth keeping' ... a liberty that
acknowledges the very first

highest and richest loyalties.
This then .emphasizes riot rights

It is within this circle that
there lies the chronic illness of
our society and world today.
Does this not grow and continue
to spread from the great. lack of
' the desire to assume our respon-
sibilities? This I fear, we find in
all age groups, individuals who
long" to do as they please,
pressure ' groups, 'selfish

,
those who want "To do their

Perhaps it is time then that
we begin to Listen more closely
to Paul. In his dad' there was. no

For every believer God has

said.
"There is neither Jew nor
Greek,' there is neither ¢bond nor
free, there is neither finale nor
female, for you are all one in
Christ Jesus." To the Corin-
thians he wrote: "All things are
yours" - and that certainly
sounds like a rallying cry for
liberty.
No cramping' bonds, no
inhibitions, no fears! All things
'are yours, whether Paul or
Apollos, or the world, or life or
death, or things present or
things to come, all, are yours"
said . the Apostle.
But I 'think' the significant
thing to ti,s is that he did not
stop there.. I wonder why?
Because Paul 'was, awake
enough to know .that liberty can
never last very -long or be. of
much influence upon life based ,
solely ' upon the things we
possess :... on unlimited
privileges. So ,we find him con-
cluding his, great passage with
the words:
"Alt are yours, and you 'are
Christ's, and Christ is God's".
He brings home to us clearly the
fact that liberty must be fours-
