the kids have the teacher sized

The people, who came from '
far away to spend four great

but praise and good will for the

I. met people from Windsor
' who had planned this week as
"the great -way tofinish off'°the
summer."
They enjoyed playing ball
here and look forward to next
years tournament. Mostly they
• enjoyed the hospitality and
friendliness of Goderich. They
raved about our town• and the

Of course some of 'them missed
Saturday but I was pleased to
hear their good words for 'our

This will be l carried back
to their home towns and many
more "people .,,will decide they

. enjoying it. Harry Little of
Little Bowl tells me they have a
new group starting this year
which should interest a 'great

It's edited Young Adult Inter -

Saturday.
They will ' bowl against
Wingham, Clinton and Seaford'
and it sounds like a great
schedule is -drawn up for a lot of
fun. With all the ladies and
mens groups getting organized a
lot of us don't realize there is
another group that enjoy their

Have you noticed how
Hamilton Street is perking up?
When John gets his hotel built
on that corner Hamilton Street
will REALLY be back in
business.
It was once one of our busiest
streets but in the last 25 years it
has been sitting back — resting.
Now with two more fine shops

Another nice little shop is
"The Green Door" — no, it is
not a Little Theatre Green Door
but a bright little store with
some lovely gift and "nostalgia
items in it.
You ' will find some precious
old glass - at very reasonable

So often people . who have

some domestic , or other crisis
that interferes.
In almost every case the
letters I get ere both friefrdly

are business letters and bill
collectors: 1+orm letters and
promotional letters I don't even
read: just tear them once across
and toss into the logical

Anyway, his column seems to
get ':around" quite a and the
letters pile up, and I keep
making. new resolutions to
answer them and the pile keeps

I've ever had done. Unlike boys,
who don't get into the corners,.
they crawled into the bushes

their bare hands. They garnered
forty plastic garbage bags of
leaves and twigs. I gave them
their pay and an illegal beer
and we've been buddies ever

have tried it yourself." And it
turns out the lady lived next

In a column this summer, . I .

Woops! It's not all sweetness
and light. Just 'reached and read
two letters giving • me hell. I
'must -have written a snarly
'column about teen-agers back in
1970, for one of the, letters is •
dated ' then. One is from a
teenager, unsigned, blasting me
in no uncertain terms. The other
is from a senior citizen,' Mrs.
Jessie Slater of Bracebridge.
One pungent comment: "You
must be a • Dagwood at home,
and a rotten father. How else,
could you have such a mixed-up
family?" Well, Mrs. Slater, my
mixed-up daughter. happens t
he living in Bracebridge right
now, and I've a good notion 'to
call and tell her to go over and
give you a good punch in the
nose.
I'M kidding, Mrs. Slater. Kim
wouldn't step on an ant, 'if she
could avoid it. She's a
delighttul, compassionate,'
beautiful and intelligent young,
woman,. who is no more mixed-
up than you or I.
And I'm no Dagwood. When I
put • my foot down around.
here.:..I break a •toe.
aWell, -all I wanted to say was,
that you meet a lot of interesting
people in this business.•
