Van Egmond Foundaton
will Ibunch'hist drive
. A .. reception and luncheon
have been set for this Saturday
by the Van Egmond Foundation

group .will accept a , :heque for
$7000 from the _Ontario

presentation , of this money will,
also mark the beginning of. a'
public fund raising campaign to
r •' be launched by the foundation
in hopes of obtaining enough
money to purchase and restore
the Van Egmond residence:
This drive in endeavouring to
'raise , anoth.er- $7,000, the
Ontario Heritage Foundation ,
have agreed to then make
available an additional $7,000 '
in grants when the local
foundation matches the first
grant,
Among, those expected, to be
present on the occasion are

Edighoffer M.P.P. and- Aobert

representatives 'from
Egmondville and members of
.the Val,,. Egmond: -Foundation,
will also be on hand.
The reception is set to get
underway at noon , Saturday
followed by the luncheon at 1:00
p.m. and the presentation
ceremonies at 2:00 p.m. Larry
Ryan,, director of the •Ontario
Heritage Foundation will make
the presentation.
The Heritage Foundation
explained that the`grant is made'
available when 0 the local
foundation. matches the original
award ' . through public
fundraising and after the
Heritage Foundation approves
the restoration plans.
The honie was actually
purchased by the Van Egmond
Foundation last spring from a
Seaforth owner + with both the
$500 option to buy and $14,000
purchase price raised through
bank loans.
='The -home. -4 -was , built. in -the--,--
late 1830's by . Constant Van
Egmond, span m of Colonel
Anthony Van Egmond, who
played a major role in opening
the Huron Tract to settlement.
Colonel Van Egmond was
known for various exploitsmost
notably the part he played as
commander for,• William Lyon.'
