Many motorists and mbtor
cyclists are inclined to ignore
the speed limits posted in
Ontario provincial parks. The
Ontario, Safety League warns
that this is an extremely
dangerous practice and one that
arouses resentment where there
is a-- heavy, population "of
campers of all ages enjoying an
outdoor holiday. Even if 'the ,
y posted speeds in campgrounds
or on through roads in the parks
seem excessively restrictive

Total receipts .at ;the pool
total $4,721.30 he indicated with

swimmers.) Season's tickets
accounted for another $282,
daily receipts. $1,161.20 and
additional revenue from the
penny carnival, the fish derby
and some craft sales $778.10.
A bus trip to the Detroit zoo
was being organized by the pool
staff to take place oriAugust 31.
The pool and park will remain
in operation however with seven
of the 13 --staff 'members taking
the trip' as supervisors and• the
remaining six staying behind to
operate the facilities.
In his report Mr.. Park
recommended to the Recreation
Board that when hiring staff for'
the 1973 season they consider
hiring•`and:•paying on the basis
of qualifications. "It is unfair to
pay a straight 11.50 per hour
across the -,board regardless ' of
qualifications,''' the director -
said. He suggested that if those-
with
hosewith better qualifications `vete
paid more better staff would be
attracted and an incentive to
upgrade standards offered.
A letter was heard at Monday
evening's meeting from the
Goderich Fastball "Tournament
Committee requesting a' special; ,
price consideration on „rental of
the arena • " auditoriurn.
Recreation Board members
agreed'to•inform the group that
they were • already receiving
consideration. The board felt
,the $50 fee, which normally
covers only an evening, having
been ,extended to over the
whole day was consideration
enough.
A 'report was presented from a
meeting held last week between
members of the Recreation ,.
Board•''and the Board of the
Maitland Golf and Country
Club.
Recreation Board chairman,
Paul 'Carroll , explained that
nothing new on the situation
regarding• special assistance to
the club had been forthcoming'
from that : meeting and the.
members agreed to pass the
report on to council' with no
recommendation for action or
lack of it.
