up the release date,of,the report.

"Ontario Hydro obviously
does not want to tell .,middle
management, who may be
working hard during the strike,
that they will be out of work
when the study is released."
With Management personnel
now comprising nearly half the
24,000 -member Hydro work

recently by a group of boaters from Indian Island. The name
on,. it is very badly faded..and•.has been -painted over at some
—time but many of theboaters from the island' speculate it
might be fro/v.-the Carl Bradley which sank in Lake Michigan
14• years ago taking with her 33 men. The boats involved in the
pick up were the Burbine Barge, Skeoch Scow,Manning_m_
Special and'H.M'.S.-Hedley. Mr. Manzer is the first officer of -

Truck driver gets top sward

A -29-year-old MacTier,
• Ontario, truck driver who risked
his life to avoid a second
collision with a school bus at
Luckndw has been nominated
for the Dunlop National Truck
' Driver of the Year Award.
•On December 9, 1971, Glen
• Beasley of 140 Park ''Street,
MacTie.r was steering his
tractor -trailer arld 20 tort
structural steel cargo past a
school ..bus. Suddenly, the bus
pulled iiito the. -passing lane
ahead of • Beckley. In a vain
attempt to avoid collision,
.Beasley swerved left, slamming
op his :brakes.
The bus, carrying 9 North
• Ashfield Public School'students,
was thrown 50 feet in front of
the truck upon impact. Seeing
' the danger of a second collision,
Beasley drove his truck into a
ditch thus avoiding serious
injury 'to the school 'children.
Though Beasley's steel cargo
shifted, piercing the cab of the
truck, the• driver escaped with
minor injuries. He refused to be
treated until he had ensured all'
children were safely out of the.
bus.

nomination as Truck Hero of
the Year.
A 'panel of judges will select
the Hero in October. The
selected Hero will receive the
1972 Dunlop National Hero
trophy, an engraved Rolex
watch, a cash award of $500
and a special VIP weekend for
two in' Toronto, 'With all
expenses paid. by Dunlopt
Canada Limited, the sponsor of
the Award.
The :presentation will take
place at a luncheon of the
Automotive Transport
Association of Ontario
Convention to be held at the
Royal York Hotel, Toronto, in
November.
A reward of $100 will go to
the person, who nominates the
