!laity has a vital
role in Reunion"
Cardinal Gibbons year§ ago
said: ''The Unity of Christians is
the great desire of my heart. For
it. I prayed, worked and suffered.
Gladlylwould I givemy life for its
',devout consummation. Separation
is enstrangement: union is love."
On Sunday we celebrate in the"
Christian Church Pentecost
Sunday the descent of the Holy
Spirit on. ,the Apostles. The
disciples were together'.in one
place-- one mind and one heart.
Are today's Christians of one
mind and one '' heart `
The Vatican Council has asked
for a spiritual mobilization of all
the faithful. Each has a special
-furiciioh fifthe mill c'h "—a role t'o
fulfill. A task for ALL - the task
of UNITY.
Religjous Unity is NOT.a kind of
dream - it is, a VOCATION, the'
task of -the ENTIRE CHRISTIAN
CHURCH TODAY,
Dialogues, meetings',
conferences MUST be- continued'
and expanded.
This must remind us of prayer
ALWAYS and in every .aspect,
1 a, Prayer .must rise .from a-
heart longing for Unity and
Suffering sorrow, because of the
divisions in the Christian Family.
bl Prayer forUnity rs the task
of all - of everyone, who glories
in the name of Christ.
c) Prayer is,.. the PRIMARY
MEANS to effect the Unity which
our Lord desires.
d) If Catholics pray for Unity at -
every Mass, and if other
Christians do at their Communion
-Services, surely the blessing of
Unity would be closer to
achievement than it has been for
centuries., .'
Therefore. every layman can
• help the cause of Christian Unity:
First andforemost, by PRAYER
perseveringly ,and •i eading of
Sacred Scripture: by DESIRING
Unity. • search of truth with
sincerity; By GOOD EXAMPLE

themselves Christians, do Christ

By OPPOSITION TO EVIL: - aa..,
Shocking exploitation of sex.
Sexual degradation destroys
men's interest in the spiritual..life
and consequently in Church Unity,
