youngsters and you have the
rnakiag.s of a learning experience

after the recipe for success 'has
made the roundg in the staff room.
The lucky Grade •6 class at
Victoria Public School taught` by
young Paul Carroll has embarked
upon this kind of a .stimulating
project. When you walk into their
second -floor room. you can sense
the eagerness right away. There
are 11 separate groups -and 11
truly have -fun -while -you -study
areas,
,Leslie,,Denise, Debbie, Jayne;
Brian G„ Loni, Jane and Pamela
are atwork on the village layout.
On a -table the.v've constructed a
plaster and-.w*ire replica of' 'a
typical Peruvian town.' The
finished project will include
homes, -fields. an elaborate road
system, a suspension bridge.',a
tunnel; a temple and an aqueduct
-" •irrigation system. , •
' A good sized suspension bridge
made from genuine •material is
being fashioned by Perry', Drew
and Scott.
A reed boat, a life jacket and a
.plant experiment is, the
'assignment for' Tony, Gord and
David.
Wendy and Brenda are in
charge of the quipu and the loom.
Tools are being, fashioned by
Patsy and Ann. '
The clay stove is under
construction by Keith and Brian

The reed boat is probably One of

projects although there will he

Mr: Carroll confided that he
hopes to take some members (')f,

With plaster, wire, cardboard, stones and water paint, the students
in Paul Carroll's: Grade 6 class at .Victoria Public School have
fashioned a model of the countryside upon which trod the ancient
Incas of Peru. This model at completionwill have a•road system,, an ,
aqueduct irrigation system, a suspension bridge, a' tunnel and a
temple. The students began the, project last week and 'lid Il continue

course along with mining, crafts.

while work on the project is ,

There are exciting things going
on in education these- days....arid
- no one is more excited than the
students who learn their lessons
without r6lizing it because
they're having such a good time.
Even the hear *couldn't heat a
system like that!
When fel lbws9 ettogether to build a dant, it has to be an adventure,
but* when the boat is built of reeds collected from the local, river
flats, the adventure beceMes Sheer excitement; These rulrade O boys
are constructing the craft aldnt the same tines as the Inca 'boats
