The band trip could have easily
been a high speed film—there
wasn't an idle moment—time ,
passed so quickly!
We left, as scheduled, about
8:00 last Thursday morning, and',
most of us were just awakening
when we ' reached Woodstock
Collegiate Institute at 10:15. This,.
gave us ample tiro to set UP and
adjust the music..stands,
mi-ere-p-Ivotte hairs, and
rehearse for the concert at 11:0.0. •
W.C.I.- has pre-teCi's,
.noticeable' in their bright red
blazers and they appea;•ed to
organize the movement of
students in and out of the
auditorium. •
"After a very successful and
appreciated concert, we toured
the city of Woodstock, then left for
Norfolk County' and Waterford!
Waterford is at least a small
town, surrounded by numerous
other villages, usually composed
of a general store, church, a tew
houses and maybe an elementary •
school. Most of these friendly
little places are within walking
distance of each other.
Waterford District High School
has the same number of students
as does G,DC.1. and. like our"
school, has various naw
additions, including a large
gymnasium. I think the
enthusiasm for Track and Field at.
Waterford is equivalent to our
enthusiasm for football and one of
their band members will he
running in the Olympics at Munich
this summer.
Before we played we were,
briefly introduced to our hosts for
the night. After the concert wehad
to seek out our hosts from among
the'crowdinthe gymnasium,then
left for our temporary homes.
Most of us were biiletted on
tobacco' farms and were
introduced to the life ' of the
tobacco farrier and„_,, the
procedures involved• • in , ttie
• planting, cultivation, curing and
marketing of the crop. At present.
. the miniature tobacco .plants are
growing in greenhouses. The
planting. begins in about two
ee ...why: a madbine•: which
resembles a ferris 'wheel: is put
into action.
After dinner, the band
members from Waterford
sponsored a • get-together" in the
village'. The school's
• bandmaster, Mr. Gallagher. is a
member of the dance band that
entertained. Later that evening
after we had met everyone. and
were stuffed full of pizza, we
returned to our homes for • the
night.
The nextmorning most'of us got
a tour through the highschool. The
halls are lined with the artwork of
public school students which
makes them bright, '
Before we knew it. .we were on
the bus headed for Brantford.
Much to our surprise, Mr.
Fischer, who recently .taught
Geography at G.D.C_I, meet us at
the door! •
•.The students there wear green
uniforms which look nice. They
:gave us a standing ovation: Mr.

The Formal was a success!
Many compliments have been
received about the elaborate
decorations which transformed
the gymnasium into an oriental
