NA "S4AR1:,+FRURk AX, APRIL 21, 197 ' BY WiLMA OKE The Huron -Perth County Roman Catholic Separate School Bodrd at a special meeting Wednesday iapproveii the 1972 budget of $2.400.780 by a recorded vote. This is an increase of ti 7 per cent or $151,700 over 1971 The nr,).Xirnurn recognized cprdinairy e,Z(pelittlituie, for 19.72 is $561.10 per pupil. or $1,803,200 This covers all expenditures' of ._the Hoard It capital expenditures. transportation. debt charges and the .capital element included to rentals payable„ The total increase under (irdinary expenditures from 1971 pis $129.980 or 7,8.per cent Extraordinary expenditures of the board total $544.500, an 'increase of $5.4.500 from 19 71 Jack Lane,. hu'sine,5's` administrator for the board. said significant changes in the 1972 d• regirlastions4-require the removal from ordinary expenditure* the capital element • included in rentals and covers portable classroom rentals, and, -administrati,ve office accommodation. These, at'e now considered as extraordinary expenditures with only the portable classroom being recognized for grant purposes on the basis of average daily enrolment at 25 cents per pupil place per day. A substantial reduction in approval for grant results from this change in regulation He also said, "Transportation costs under the present grant structure will continue ' to increase the disparity recognized for grant pti.rposes, a matt+t which has been a constant concern to the board for some time. Minor adjustments in the rate, per pupil per mile announced by the ' Department of Education in 1971 have had lit4le or no beneficial result in the Board 's net transportation cost". The provincial grant on ordinary expenditures for 1972 has increased by 2.21 per cent and on recognized extraordinary expenditures by one per cent. The equalized assessment per pupil which determines the Board's grant percentage has increased from.$19.500 to $20,200.
