Every Monday and Tuesday a total of 22 Goderith.youngsters
g,,,therdr,1 a converted garage atthe home of Helmut K rohmer, ^40
Bennett Street East, and engfige in the instruction and
competition ofJudo.
Under the instructionPf Mr. rohmer the group, comprising
of both girls and boys, is divided into a junior and senior division.
The juniors have their classes on Monday evenings and the
seniors on Tuesdays. Barry Gottschalk lends assistance in the
capacity of instructor as well. ,
A number of years ago the local Judo Club was very, active and
made use of the old Victor Lauriston school facilities. When the .
school was•torn down however, with the centro of activities gone,
the•club •dwindled and soon a1rb t died out.
Recently Mr. Krohmer completed work on his garage where a
change , room and mats have been, installed• and the club
membership jumped once more' to the• capacity of facilities
available. !Tithe future it is hoped the club will be able to expand
.further. •
p It is also hoped that competition will once again become part of
the groups activities. They have already travelled to Stratford
for 'one meet] and, plans for the future include' other such
competition with area clubs.
In the meantime the lessons, practice and study, of ,judo
continues in the converted building,
