Wednesday night at town hall. The board discussed a letter from . the , Vi -Pond sprinkler system company regarding an earlier. request by, the town' -for information about the testing and repair of the unit. The main problem had been the testing of the system periodically without tripping the siren at the fire .hall which is at present connected to the unit." The sprinkler system company suggested a three-way switch 'be installed so that the connecting line 'to the fire hall. could he temporarily disconnected during the weekly testing. The arena manager informed hoard members it would be up to the Telephone Company to do this work since they provide` and service the special line between the arena and fire hall. Recreation board agreed to authorize Mr. Lumby" to obtain price estimates and in connection with Mayor Harry Worsell was also given power to act on the recommendations. . In other arena business the manager informed the board that .Seaforth had agreed to buy the Goderioh Ice Shaver, which had Peen put up for `sale a number of weeks ago, for the suggested price of $500. Goderich is replacing the machine with a new edger~ which arena crew's are now operating on a trial basis, A numberf matters tters r egarding' . the Young Canada Week program which is coming up shortly at the Memorial ' Arena were also discussed. Mr. Lumby ears at rneetiu recommended to the hoard that a new 36 -inch grill be purchased for the snack bar, downstairs, the present one he said was not big enough to handle the large crowds that would he at the arena during the big week. ' In _other yecars., it was explained, the fatlitieis upstairs in the auditorium were used to help feed the crowds, hut indications were that fewer and Val has already been provided for in the 1972 budget. - Other correspondence to the' Recreation' Board included, a letter from the Advance Pools Co. containing a new quote on work necessary to install a vacuum line ' at the local swimming .pool., The company now offers to do the work, including some alterations suggested by te>board, for $895 has opposed toWeir original quote fewer people were willing to go of $1198.72.'It is hoped work will upstairs' to buy food. ' The interim tax levy is not additional taxi tion or is it penalty taxes, says Walls. Taxes are being collected this year in amid -Ma ch to put money into council's hands early to cut down on the amount, of interest paid for 'bank loans to operate municipal business. .Taxes paid now will be deducted. frprn the final tax billing, Walls said. . .
