It seems to be the terrible

Last week Pack One had their
"Thinking Day" meeting and as
the girls -heard the story of Lord
Baden-Powell and how Brownies
began, they enjoyed a birthday
cupcake. •
Thinking Day is actually
February 22nd because that
happened to,be,the birthday of both
Lord and Lady, 'Iladen, Powell,
however, Brownies and, Guides
ee ebrate this important
'day at the closes hn 'that
date., a
The Brownies also enjoyed
going for a sleigh ride recently
and they'd Bice ,to thank the
following ladies for driving them
out to Mr. Hindmarsh's',fa'rm—
Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Strickland,
Mrs. Kotyk, Mrs. Shrier and Mrs.
Fox.
Two new Brownies were
recently welcomed into Pack

Taley'are Mrs. Jane Durst and
Mrs. Pat Carter'.
BROWI9iES
PACK TWO
We all enjoyed our little "dress
rehearsal" with the scenery so
carefully done the week before.
The song that goes with these new
propstells the story of.three little
-children who lived i-n-a-cottage-in•a_
wood with their parents and
soon of Colborne grandmother,
In . the beginning the children
wouldn't life a hand to help in any
way. However, one day
Grandmother told then', a story
about little Brownies who used to
ireiplalks Olden=ti-rn-es--'Phese- ---
rnagic elves and sprites used 'to
clean and polish the homes when
everyone was asleep and they'd
vanish-when'tlie sun came up. ---
The children thought it would be
wonderful if their mother and
father had some help for they
always worked very hard. and se—
they set off to search for the
Brownies,. Their first stop was
deep in the forest at the home of
the Wise Owl. She, fel('them .to. go
the magic-oo3 d witbeside the__
huge toadstool.
When they looked into the
sparkling water they'd, discover
agsgswoogssssnigssmsoc the secret of the Brownies. The

grandchildren.
All the family was present at a
dinner in honor of_ the couple at
their home. A gift and a 'cake .was •
presented on behalf of the family.
Remember. ladies!

reports
little story has a very happy
,ending because when the girls
b look in the water to see the Elves,.
their reflections show them that
the Brownies:. really- are—
Themselves!
The song tells us that "Life is
now so glad and gay. -7= -because we
Lend A 'Hand each day!".
