Paradise Lost

ff< her, hair ° seemed .to forth a
sparkling halo around her; hey?was my
angel. She came closer and closer,. I
could see the flashing of , her pale
green 'eyes and I stood tr'a.nsfixed,,.

" beauty. Here was the one I had yearned
to touch to love, to gather into my
arms so that she "might never leave
me. At last, that which had been
refused to me for so long was' about to
• be mine. I rushed towards her, the
.gentle breezes blowing a thousand

choruses of love in my ears. I knew
that -this magical creature could fulfi1i. t
my heart's desires that. had been
supressed for so long, ;and I could not
wait! I lunged for her, trying
desperately to hold her, to show her I
cared. I-toucj-hed her band- andel felt' a"
burning;sensa..tion in,the very depth's of bo
my soul. Her lilting laughter brought. ,

Suddenly everything was dark and
very cold. I, looked at the snow around
me, I felt a terrible sensation of loss . I
screamed her. name, frantically. ` The
bitter, 'black , night gave' no answer.
Then with an anguished cry, I pic,ed
up the bottle and staggering across the
alley I flung it into the street where it
smashed .into a thousand pieces. I
peered into the darkness, ' hoping
against `hope. All I saw was a vast,
lonely desolation. I fell back against
the building, and I wept'.-
