very active. season With a large
number U' of youngsters ..taking

This year instruction, of the
young skaters is in the capable
hands of 23.;year old pro Dan
Carey of, US -rowel, Mr. Carey is
new to.. the Goderich, Arena ,this
season, although he has been a
professional, for fiveyyears. 1n the
line, of his duties about 100
children 'receive instruction
under his direction. In addition
to Goderich; 311,ihere he works on
Wednesdays, the pro also holds
classes in Walkerton, on Tuesdays
and: Tiittrsdays and, in Mount
Forest each Saturday. .

Jackson, Dan recalls.
"Following that 1 "spent about
five years tying to 'learn the
'sport' but the Figure Skating bug"
didn't really get hold ref me until`
fattended, a summery skating'
school in St. Thomas in 1965:"
Following,, St. Thomas Dari
moved to Chatham/-4ivhere he,
studied for a year • and then
turned pro.
"My professional career at
that time centred arou`rid stunt
skating,"-the--instruetor explains.
Among the numbers performed
in his own show that travelled
from one skating carnival to
another were such stunts as the
'human, barrel jump; leaping over
Of three people placed between
two flaming. obstat1es, "Y. also ,
torch skated and used the fire
hoop," he reals.
"Probably the best part of
my show Was the ,. comedy
portion;"•"parr-Hots, "I played
the part of a ...fat woman, a
drunkard and what might be
described as a Parisian,girl of the
"streets.",.
