This year's series of three stamps was issued on October 13 - in good time for use' on overseas mail from Britain - and should4, Lind a read} place in philatelic collections • throughout .the world. . ' The multi colour stamps ,depict scenes ..:from a stained glass window in Canterbury Cathedral'. The 2''2.p shows 01—v.—Dream of Elie Magi", the '3p the "Adoration Of the Magi" and the 7'4p. the "Ride of the Magi", - all fine examples of 12th century stained glass. The stamps were designed by Clarke, Clementllughes, a team working ill Maidstone, England, not far from Canterbury. It was their first•stamp.commission for the British Post Office. Since the mid-1960s the issue of Christmas Stamps has spread to many other Commonwealth-. countries. These, ' countries include Malawi,. Malta, the , Gilbert and ' Ellice Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Cook Islands, Montserrat, St. Vincent, Dominica, Antigua, Gibraltar, the Channel Islands, Guyana and Samoa. Outside the Commonwelath, Christmas stampls are now issued By the United States, Cuba, the Vatican and .Spain, and other countries, such as Austria, Germany, Hungary and the former Belgian Congo have issued them at various times. 0 V.
