The Goderich Rotary Club's
annual ball this year turned'into
the most successful of the events
to date with 300 1persons
attending the ball and dancing• to
the sound of Lionel Thornton's
band from London.

Swartman, one of the men in
charge of organizing the gala
event, this year's turnout was
the largest yet topping even last
year's turnout of 220 persons. A
number that had set a record,s

fall 'wedding on Saturday, October 30 at_ 3:30 o'clock when
Christine An,ite MacLennan and John Thomas MacDonald were
united in 'marriage ,
The double ring ceremw
ony as performed by' Rev. Kenth
Rooney of Ripley. Lighted tapers in candelabra and yellow
and purple mums decorated the front of the church. The' pews
were marked with rosettes made from Ancient MacLennan
Tartan, material, artificial leather and white bells.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and •Mrs. Stuart Boyd
MacLennan, R.. R. 3 Goderich and the groom is the sort of
Donald Grant MacDonald of Ripley and Mrs. 'Eleanor
MacDonald of Lonndpn
The wedding music was played by Mrs. Duncan Simpson
and the -soloist was Mrs. Bill Scott. She sang "Wedding Prayer"
prior to the ere,mony an "The Lord's.,,Prayer" during the
signing of the tegister. k'
Entering the chudreh to the music of- "Trumpet Tune" the
bride given in marriage by her father chose a white peau de
soie satin over taffeta gown of A-line design with lilypoint-
sleeves, scoop neckline and empire waist with cathedral train
cascading to tile floor. The" neck, bodice and train were'
enhanced with a border of French lace. To complete her gown, °
Christine wore a veil of "nylon tulle edged, with lace; held by a
-matching lace bow and falling, into a full train on the back. A
necklace' and earrings of cultured pearls was 'worn, a gift from
the groom. She carried,a white Bible centred with yellow roses'
and white orchidswith trailing white ribbons.
Miss Nancy MacLennan of Goderich was her sister's maid of
honor and bridesmaids . were Miss Patricia O'Connor . of
Goderich and Miss. Jacqueline Norris of London, triends or the
bride.- Miss Joce 'Johnston, Ancaster was ' her cousin's
flower -girl. •
They were, dressed alike in floor -length gowns of purple
velvet, with scooped neckline and short sleeves. The empire
waists, front and back were complimented with white'l
trim and'yellow velvet'ribbon,-forming a bow and falling from
the back. They wore yellow vel -yet ribbon in their hair. The
Maid of honour and bridesmaids carried cascade bouquets of
yellow daisy -mums, accented with a purple bow. The -
flower -girl -carried a basket' of yellow daisy nnums.
Allan Tranter, Toronto, friend of the groom was best -man
and guests were ushered by Dan Walsh of Woodstock, friend of
the groom; Klaus hieinisch, London, brother-in-law of the
groom; and Roderick ,MacLennan R. R. 3, Goderich, brother
of the bride.-Ringbearer was Master Joey Heinisch, nephew of
the groom. `
• Piper David' MacDonald' of Lochalsh played Scottish tunes
on the bag -pipes prior to and following the. ceremony.
At the ,wedding dinner. held in the Lucknow Legion Hall,
the pests were received by the bride's mother wearing a
polyester suede apricot dress with long ,chiffon 'sleeves,
accented with beaded neclkine, brown- patent purse and shoes,
and a corsage of brown ,feathered. mums. She was assisted by
Mrs. Gladys Nicholson who wore a beige double-knit dress
with sleveless jacket;°"of mauve, white and Meige strip.'She wore
a corsage of yellow feathered mums,—
The head table was decorated with a three -tiered cake, and
the yellow and purplecolor scheme carried out in candles. and
flower arrangements for�the'.other tables. Neighbo>ar,and friend
of the bride Joe MacIntyre was Master 'of Ceremonies •
A reception and dance followed in the Lucknow Legion
Hall with Carruther's Orchestra. supplying music for dancing.
For travelling to Niagara Falls, the bride donned a long
sleeved wine, wool -crepe dress, black patent accessories and a
white orchid corsage. • r
• The bridal couple will reside in Ripley, 'Where the gr"oom is
a distributor for Shell Oil. '
The bride is a 1971 graduate of Perth -Huron Regional
School of Nursing, Stratford and is an Associate- Member of
the Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance of Glasgow, Scotland.
She is presently employed at the Goderich -Psychiatric
Hospital.
Guests were present from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.;
Kalamazoo and.Birminghar i; M=ieh•.; Peterborough; Toronto;
London; St. Thomas; • Owen Sound and surrounding

Prior to her marriage the. bride was honored at three
showers0 `w,hen she received many lovely gifts. A cdmmunity
shower eas held at North Ashfield School with Mrs. Lloyd
Collins and Mrs. Joe MacIntyre as hostessess. Miss Patricia
O'Connor'held shower for girlfriends in Goderich.
Classmates :of '71 Nursing Class were invited to a shower at
the home of Mrs, Klaus Heini'sch, sister of the groom. London.
The bride's mother entertained ata Trousseau a in her
honour. For the rehearsal luncheon a smorgasbord was held at
the bridegroom's home in Ripley, where a pleasant social
evening was enjoyed by the wedding party and friendk.

October 23 wedding at whiclrJohn Walter Leamen, son of Mr,
and Mi -s. J. W. Leamen, Goderich, took Marilyn Cecilia Flood,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs:' Vincent Flood, Gananoque, as his
bride.

double -ring ceremony at which traditional Wedding music

Pridr to her wedding, the bride was feted at several showers.
In Gozleric'h Mrs. Rose Willis, Mrs. Kay Leamen and Miss Rose
Leamen entertained at the home of Mrs. Willis. Other hostesses
, were Mrs. Melvyn Worth and Susan and M'rs. James Ried. A-
trousseau tea was given by the bride's mother for her daughter.
