Marwict- celebrated their 55th wedding a nn i v.ersary--No*.e.mher.2.2--withak, family dinner at their home, 173 Lighthouse St. Mrs. Harold Johnstone this week- received the Canadian 'Imperial Bank of Commerce Silver Rosebowl award for the highest points in flowers and vegetables at the Bayfield Fall Fair. The presentation was made Monday- by Godetich manager, Don Shortreed. 'Phis season, Mrs. Johnstone -took a total of 245 prizes in ten fairs this fall. Clarence ..Frieburger, Fred Porter an son Gene, all of Wingham, visited with-Nfr. and Mrs. Ha Id Johnstone during the weekend'. A hunting trip netted an Exeter man a. share in a ,black bear which, weighed420 pounds and stood eight feet tall. He is Eddie 13rintnell who recently commenced employment With Reg. McGee and Sons Ltd. and with his family ill b.e movingto Goderich at the end' of this month. The deer 'hunting trip to - Northern Ontario took place the first two weeks of November and turned out to be a :little 'more exciting than was previouslyanticipated. tiima pole beans which grew 19 feet ,four inches tall this past season are reported by Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johnstone who measured the plant S when they were cleaning up the garden .this fall. One_week to go! On Hallowe'en nite there were a lot of dandy -costumes parading the streets. How about some of you, dressing up again ,and -joining 'the parade - -like outriders with the western wagons or "floats". You would have fun and it would add spice to the parade. Our tastes. of winter - with the good fall of snow makes us realize Santa arid' his helpers are working like fury and the likes* of me who hate shopping, need to get going. I'll tell you where I'd like to get. going - and that's to the Canary Islands. - Sunshine and - Fun.Islands - with bOss Howard Aitken, Tour Leader. Trouble is -- I- have to stiffer itriiv the Christmas shopping bit, anyway - and then by February I'll be broke and out of the mood. • This is going to be BEAUTIFUL" TRIP 'and I envy the folks who are getting ready for it.- For those, who., are undecided - get xracking - you're in' for .a REAL treat and you can't make plans or get tickets in February. DO IT. NOW. There are so many - older? 2- people who want to do these things - like going on a big trip - but they just can't n,ake up their minds - I know, because I was one of the worst - and I enjoyed my trip the MOST! $1. irst off..- go and ,get• your shots-- whatever are required, they won't hurt a bit' they Cold me. Once.you have this and c,your, passport - no problem here - just needs TIME - you are practically on your way. Air travel is marvelous - and so is your whole trip from the -"grail to finish. The game thing would work for you, too, as young folks are more 'broad-minded these days and actually WANT you to go travelling and see how theother 4, half of the world hires. There are many planned tours that you can choose and all have - excellent "tour masters". These people look after your needs and make ,travelling- a real pleasure. So - AWAY YOU GO! Well, back to earth. I had a nice surprise last nite. Three gremlins came to the door - "Can we shovel your driveway?" Well, I knew they could - a lot easier thah I - "What .is it going to cost?" The tiniest one giggled "Oh about $95." So they started in and for three little girls they did .6 great job in a short time. When they finished I tried to pay them. "No, we don't want anything for it." I nearly flipped - then the dog stood LIP and begged and the Legion you may make theirs - providing you live nearby. The Kinettes have the date for their Mardi Gras set - February 5, 1972.
