Leave hiin with mommy
Dear Ann Landers: I have
been .dating a 35 -year-old dentist
for several months. He is
toward - other women ' and
wanting to date them. 1 suspect
it' I were seriously in love I
a t-erttetive; ie s '.--...a ad......WOtiteliat,., b+e4, thirkking- along--« .
these lines., Please 'tell me what
to do, Ann. 1 am reluc=tant to
end the relationship because Lee
is a warm, wonderful person and
I like her very much. At the
same time I feel 1 should be
honest with her and tell her
what is going' on in my mind.
Please understand 1 DON't want
to stop seeing her altogether: I
just want our relaticbuship to be
less confining. - Undecided
Dear 1'r Your situastion -
minus the banana oil - is as
follows: You're not ready to
settle down., You'd like to keep
Lee on the back burner 'but you
don't know if she'll go Por it" -
somewhat . interesting. I am 26.
Neither of ,us has ever married.
(He lives with his mother.) The
problem is this:
Last night it e asked me 'it' I
,would marry hint -and
•hastene i to add, "IF 1' asked
you, which 1 have not yet done."
I 'Would have to think
about .it.. He said, "Well, l'd.have
to think about it,. too. You'll
have to pass the test." I, asked,
"What test?" He then ,..handed
me a piece of paper, Here are
some of the questions,*( There
were 20!)
Do you 'put your hair up at
night and apply •cream to your
a' face? •
Do you change the bed linen
less -. frequent /y than once. .a
week?..
Do .you' wash. underwear and
hose' at night and hang them, i'
the bathroom?
Are you one of those nut•'
who reads and watches TV in
bed orN do you go to bed , to
.SLEEP'' ''"
I won't bore you with the
rest of the list, but y\dfl knew
now • the.- tone of his
questionnaire. He' said if 1
answered yes to. more than three
questions I . was not "suitable
marriage material."
. What is your opinion of this?
- Zapped
Dem,•, Z.; Let hist- stay with
his moth 1r. A bargain he isn't.
Dear Ann Landers: Our
minister's wife is a nice person
but sometimes I think she gets
herself confused with her
husband. She likes to counsel
and "help" even when people,
don't ask for it,
Yesterday, Mrs. Minister
--dropped by and volunteered
some advice. She told me to stop
buying my husband's clothes for
him, that I should let John select
his own weati.ng apparel. She
also told me to stop taking.. the
car in for repairs becuase that
was my husband's job and I
should not rob .-him of • his
masculinity.. When she left I just
sat there 'dumbfounded. I didn't
realize I was "smothering" John.
as Mrs: Minister put it.
My husband hates tp shop for
clothes and seems to like
everything I buy. As for the car,
if I didn't take it in for servicing,
it would fall apart. John doesn't
have the time.
Can it be that she is right and
I don't want to face the truth?
Please tell me. •- Rapped In Rye
Dear Rained: You'll have to
decide whether .or not John
appreciates these things. Talk it
out 'with him and make sure
you're on solid ground. Then if,
Mrs. Minister brings up the
subject again, tell her thanks for'
the help, but you're getting
along fine.
