Stratford was one of three teams tied for third spot in the -conference standings. Exeter had finished second over the regular season. Vikings coach Wayne Horner . sees the key..to beating Stratford . Photas . y , to , be the use of the Vikings -outside running. Scouting reports indicate Exeter made the mistake of trying to run up the middle against Stratford, but the Stratford defence proved vulnerable to the wide stuff in • the . Vikings meeting, with them in the regular season. ..Coach Horner feels that given a good day,.: weather-wise, and a healthy fullback in Gary Lounsbury, the Vikings should be able to move.•the ball against the Ramblers. , Unfortunately, he may have neither. The weather on the G,D.C.I. "wind-bco_wl",..,..r, is.. traditionally unpredictable this time of year, and Lounsbury- suffered a broken collar -bone in the game ' Iagai nst Listowel. -ice has been fitted with a special brace and will be in the lineup tomorrow. The game against Listowel was• not as easy a win for the • Vikings "as the score seems to indicate, In fact, the Vikings trailed 7-6 at quarter time. Listowel scored first on a touchdown by Johnston which came after the Vikings fumbled on their own three -yard line. Keenan kicked the convert. Tom O'Brien, running out of the fullback slot, scored the %ikings first touchdown near the end.of the first quarter. From that point, the Vikinngs gradually took the momentum away from Listowel and began piling up the points. However, Listowel didn't give up without a fight. As a matter of fact, four of their players were put out of A the ; game for fighting and unnecessary roughness. Another touchdown by Tom O'Brien and two by Ron Brown, who moved in to spell -off the injured Lounsbury at fullback, led the Vikings scoring. +` Lounsbury,. Al Drennan, aid Brian MacKenzie added a touchdown each for the winners. Severs scored Listowel's other touchdown. The Vikings gained a total of 455 yards — 344 through the air and 111 passing. }istowel picked up a yardage' total of 256, with only 22 yards of it from passing., ,The Vikings made 12 first downs tcs' Listowel's three.
