MR. AND MRS, G. A, KEENE
Margaret Eileen Johnson, daughter of Mr.,and Mrs. Colin G.
Johnson, Glencoe, and Gary Arthur Keene, CFB Petawaw,a,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Keene, Goderich, were married
October 8 at Glencoe Presbyterian Church amid candlelight
and baskets of white chrysanthemums and fern.
Officiating at the ceremony was Rev. Charles' McDonald.
Music was supplied by Albert Wayling, the soloist, and the
organist, Mrs. Ken Kendrick.

traditional white satin gown with a cathedral train. Guipure
lace trimmed the neckline, bodice and flilypoint sleeves and
was repeated in the headpiece that with a single pearl held her

Bible topped with an orchid and trailing white rose buds.
Matron of honor was Mary Adair, Blenheim and bridesmaids
were Ruth Johnson, sister of the 'bride, Wallaceburg;, Nancy
Briggs, Glencoe; Carol Johnston, Appin; ,and Victoria Rebeck,
Mt. Prospect, Ill.
w They wore mauve chiffon over white taffeta with purple
Lace vests, traced by dainty white daisy braid. They carried
cascading bouquets, of white mums and fern and wore white'
daisy mums in their hair.
Groomsman was the groom's brother, Douglas' Keene .of
Waterloo. Ushers were the bride's brother, Mark Johnson and
Terry Johnston and Larry McIntyre, friends of the groom.
At the wedding -reception held at Glencoe Fair Pavilion, the
bride's mother wore a fuschia ensemble of cre,Pe crimplene and
'
brocade with a white rosebud corsage. The groom's mother
chose a -dress "of orchid toned satin peau de oie and chiffon-- `
accented with a white rosebud corsage.

The bride is a graduate of Chatham General Hospital School
of Nursing and the groom is with the Canadian Armed Forces
stationed at Petawaw— They are residing inTembroke.

• A honeymoon was spent in Northern Ontario following the
October 9 wedding at Knox Presbyterian Church of Joyce
Marie Durnin and Bryan Franklin. Baer; -both of Goderich.
Rev. G. Lockhart Royal officiated at the double -ring
ceremony for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs., James ' Durnin„,

Vases of white gladioli and mauve mun's decorated the
church. a
Escorted -up the aisle 'by. her father, the bride wore a
full-length gown of -crystal pLiau and guipure lace with. an
empire waistline, full bell sleeves and, a sabrina neckline. The
sleeves and detachable chapel train were trimmed in guipure
lace. She wore a French illusion tiered veil which fell from her
headpiece of lace and pearl garland. She carried a cascade 'of
yellow gloria roses, stephanotis and baby's breath.
Matron or honor was Suzanne Farrish, Goderich, who wore
a dress in Gibson Girl style of Sapphire blue satin peau with a
full gathered skirt, empire waistline, high neckline and full
gathered sleeves.' She carried . a Colonial, bouquet of ,,pink
miniature carnations, yellow pinochio' mums and blue status.
Bridesmaids Janice White and Gwen`Baer; both of Goderich,
were gowned identically to the matron of honor.
The groomsman was James Famish, Goderich. Ushers were
John Hodgeund Brent Baer; both of Goderich.
The wedd fig reception was at the Saltford Valley Hall., The
bride's mother wore ra green crimp knit suit with full-length
bell sleeves. and a corsage -of talisman roses. The groom's
-mother 'chose a deeprose crimp knit suit, black accessories and
a corsage of white sweetheart roses.
The bride's going -away ensemble was a brown and burgundy
wool pant suit with matching brown accessories and a corsage
of white miniature carna{{tions.
Mr. and Mrs. Baer are residing at 131 Picton St.
--Prior to her marriage -the bride was feted at a shower given
by -Miss- aniee White at''fhe home- of Mrs. Elda--White, Keays
Street. Another shower was hosted by Miss Gwen Baer at the
home of Mrs. Frank Baer, RR 4, Goderich. •

St. Paul's 'Anglican Church, Hamilton, was decor i?d with
bouquets of Pink roses and gladioli and tall capers for the
double -ring ceremony that united Carolynn Elizabeth, first
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Aitken, and, Richard John
Heron, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Heron, Thornhill, as
husband and -wife on October 9, 1971..,
Reverend Canon Murray Creal officiated and Michael Doran
played. the..wedding..music which includedeWestminster Abbey
by Purcell and Song of Joy bb Beethoven.
Given in• marriage byr father, the bride wore a long gown
" of white silk shantung trimmed with white lace in a vogue
couturiere design with,, fitted bodice, jewel neckline, gathered
skirt, long full 'gleezves with lace trimmed buttoned cuffs and
matching "bonnet. She carried a bouquet. of white carnations
' and pink roses.
She had five attendants. The maid, of •honor, Louise, sister

Nile, celebrated their 63rd
wedding /anniversary last
Thursday;in the quiet country
- atmosphere of their home.
Although no special events were
"planned for the day, a
continuous flow of friends and
relatives, all well-wishers, passed
enjoyed,,,.,. in Buffalo " before
settling down on the groom's'
farm two miles west of Nile.;The
couple resided there for 11 years
until • moving Lo a West
Wawanosh farm where they lived
until coming to Nile 21 years
ago.

the groom, and Cliarlotte„ sister of the bride, all Wore
midi -length dresses of dusty rose crepe styled as the bride's
and matching bonnets. The junior bridesmaid;'Uf6ria, sister of
the bride, wore a long dress and bonnet in the samefabric and
style: They carried nosegays of shaded pink carnations, ...
Ray Field, -Toronto, was the best mah. Ushers were Eric and
Brian, brothers of 'the bride, and Wally Stocking of Thornhill.
The Evening Guild catered for the reception in the parish
..._hall. There were• guests from Barrie, Bermuda,''Flesherton,
Hamilton, Goderich, Smith Falls, St.' Thomas,' Ottawa,
Windsor, Waterloo and Toronto.
The_bride's mother received in a embroidered green.chiffon.
dress with pink' orchid corsage and matching ,accessories. The
groom's mother wore a two-piece ensemble with turquoise
t• velvet coat and pale turquoise sheer cut velvet (sleeveless) dress
with matching accessories and white orchid corsage. •
Following the reception the. bride and groom invited the
guests to their new home at 4875 Dundas St. W., Toronto, and
displayed their weddingand shower gifts.
Afterwards Mr. and Mrs.•W. Heron served a buffet'dinner at
their home 'in Thornhill followed by a pre -honeymoon: party.
Prior to her marriage the bride was, feted at, ahhower by
relatives of t',.e groom. given by, his aunt, Mrs. Murray Juffs, '
and `one by neighbors of the groom given by Mrs. Robert Law.

October -'28, 1908 at Shepparton,
at the home of the bride, the
former Martha Hawkins. The
groomsman was the late Alex
Bogie and the bridesmaid was.
Agnes . ,.( Rome) Winston,
Toronto. , The officiating
clergyman was Rev. William
Conway, Nile, Ebenezer and
Shepparton.
Following their marriage, a
week-long honeymoon was
of Belmore; 40 grandchildren
and 21 great-grandchildren. One
son predeceased them. ,
Mr. McNee, now 88 and his
wife, soon to be 85, recalled that
their wedding day .was as warm
and as pleasant ' as last
Thursday's weather.
They believe that for the most
part, today's couples are married
while they are still too young,
and Mr. McNee is of the firm.
