Mrs. Charles Munro, the
president,. opened the meeting.
She .welcomed all the ladies to
the Convention and the
secretary, Mrs. Herbert Jackson,
read the minutes" ',o'f' 'the' last
meeting. She reported 4,here'
would be new hand books t'his
Fall.
A sing -song was enjoyed, with
Mrs. Lorne Crinklaw leading~'
She had written words for the
75th=anni-yersary--song that went
to the music of "Seventy -S,
Trombones".

Miss -Helen 'McKercher
introduced thehome-economists
'for the different counties.
• The Convention next year is
to be held on the 26 and 27 of
October. •I't was thought it was a
.little early this, year, as it
interfered with too many other
things.

Mrs. Don. Symonds,
representing the Mayor of
Clinton, brought greetings and
presented Mrs. Munro with a
cheque.
Mrs. MacGregor showed a
display of crafts from •
Huronvie' Home. She said the
annual sale this, year was
November 10.
, Mrs. • Wallace Laidlaw
introduced ' the afternoon
spetaker, Dr. ,Elizabeth
Waterston. She used the' theme,
„in full or in part, to demonstrate

She said the W.I, has always
been a group that has been
finding new things and new ways

The Friday morning session
opened. at 9:15. Mrs. Munro
asked for the reports on finances
and auditors.
The curator gave her report.
She asked for a story and a.
picture that. was missing from
two of the counties and said if

her book.
Mrs. Munro.' reminded the
ladies olkl',•• the 75th anniversary
next • year. It was moved arid

Miss Helen McKercher

economists. She referred to the
theme also, and•said keep trying-.
They are hoping tOThive five
more junior groups this year and
she thought it was an excellent
idea to sponsor home-niaking
girls.
-"The need for leadership is
never greater. than it is today,"
said Miss McKercher.
Mrs, Wallace Laidlaw, second
vice-president, was chairman for
'the afternoon when Miss McKee,
home economist from .Centralia,
was the speaker. The girls had
their display and each one. had
something different to talk
about\Lpaper display from paper
plates `�o paper underwear and
bikinis, extra storage things for
the kitchen and also gadgets to
f help in cooking.
Soulth Huron took the
memorial service. Mrs. Munro
thanked all `Who• took part.
Mrs. Ross Allen reported 368
registered at the Convention.
Mrs., Wm. Gaunt thanked
everyone who took , part • or
helped in any way.

The Huron County Rally of
the Women's Institute was held
in the Ethel „C,armmunity Hall,
Monday, October 4, with 122
ladies registering.'
Mr*. Charles Mothers,
Bluevale, presided and Mrs.
Garnet Hicks; Exeter, • was
secretary,
Following opening,exercises,
Mrs,: Brink of Ethel welcomed
everyone:
Mrs. Harold Gaunt brought
greetings from West Huron, Miss
Ruth Skinner from South
Huron, ;and Mrs. Mothers from
East Huron.
• Mrs, Weicker of the Guelph
area brought greetings, as did
Mrs. Makins, the Board member.
District reports were read by
',Mrs. Graham McNee,
' Dungannon, for West Huron;
Mrs. Johns for South Huron and
Mrs. Humphrey for ,East Huron.
Mrs. Ewen Ross gave the
I-iuron • County Children's. Aid
Bursary' report., She brought
greetings from Bruce Heath,
chairman of the society. Tera
wards have been aided' since it
began and there is a balance on.
hand of $1,628'.25.
After some discussion:.it was—
decided to assist a ward this
year, if necessary, from the
funds, and the presidents' of the
districts be �_-_ e,ommittee to
discuss ' future plans with the
~ociety and bring, a
r'eeorrmmendation to the next
l{ally
Mrs. Otto Popp gave a report
ot• the Historical Society,
thanking the Women's Institute
for their support. The meetings
are getting bigger and better.
Seven volumes of Year Books
have' been distributed, some to
the lJ . $. universities and
libraries. There are i53.
members, 52 in Bayfield alone.
She urged the Women's Institute
to make the curators members
of the —Historical: Society. The
Year Books should be taken to
he, Wo-man'aa.. I;nstitute's
eetings; also Newsletters,
Women's Institute members
should -attend FHstorica?-Societ=y
"'meetings. Each - comrnunity
should sent their histories to the ,
Historical ociety. The general
meeting ' /will, be • in Walton
Communiity H111, October 27.
Miss Cathargine Hunt, .home
economist, gave her report
stating that 903 girls in Huron
County completed their project
this year, largest in Ontario.
The Women's Institute's
Scholarship of $100 was won by
Miss • Dianne Patterson of
Seaforth and presented t� her
mother, Mrs.- Patterson of
Seafort* . formerly; Donna Bell
.of Goderich.
The "Majestic Stompers" of
Brussels entertained.
Mrs. Bride of Fordwich .
introduced the guest speaker,
Mfrs. Myrtle MacNaughton of
W i n g ham, .who spoke • on
"Challenge For Health" and the
Cancer Society. This work
includes research, education and
.service. There are films avail=able: -
Mrs. Allan,...Wingham, thanked
Mrs. •MacNaughton and
presented a gift.
A^' duet by• . Mrs. Grace
Campbell and Mrs. Ruth
Townsend; accompanied by Mrs.
•Irma Pryce, was enjoyed.
An interesting demonstration
by ,_Miss Marjorie Russell,
Listoiel, on seasonal crafts was
appreciated.
•• The executive will arrange a
special ,celebration for next
"year's meeting On the 75th
anniversary, to be held in West
Huron. This invitation was given
'by Mrs. Harold Gaunt of St.

The council of the 'OWN of GODERICH has authorized
the establishment a system of muriicipal and school tax
-cre'd'its and refunds under the provisions of The Municipal
and School Tax Credit Assistance Act, 1967 to assist
e.lderly._persons_ A tax,_credit equivalent to one-fralf of,;tbe
,municipal and school taxes may be allowed in respect of a
real property, subject to a maximum of $150 which
becomes a lien against the property.
IF:
(a) the owner, and/or the husband or the ''wife of the
owner, .is 65 years of'age or more and occupies "the real
property as a personal `r'e`sidence.
(b) application is made by 'the taxpayer during the
calendar year in Which the realtli taxes, in respect of which
the tax credit is claimed, become due and payable, and
(c) the remaining portion of the realty taxes, after the
deduction of theiax credit, has been paid.
