organizer in' the 1971 Canada,
Savings Bonds campaign, payroll
savings division, for the Owen
Sound, " Collingwood and
Goderich area.
His territory includes Owen
Sound, Meaford, Collingwood,
Orangeville, Markdrale,
Southampton, Port Elgin,
Kincardine, Chesley, Hanover,
Dundalk, Walkerton,
Palmerston, Wingham, Durham,
Hensall, Mount Forest and
Harriston. •
-Mr. Blackshaw has been an
organizer for all Canada Savings
Bonds campaigns in the past.

Bonds and during the period
1946-1970 inclusive, a total of
$5.1 billion , in CSBs were
purchased through the Payroll
Savings Plan across the country.
Last year in theaea, a total
of"'$1,060,650 worth CSBs
were purchased. through payroll
savings , frorn 2,771 applications.
The '171-'72 series will
-become available on Oct. 4 and
will be sold at par until Nov. 15-.
The new Series, provides an
annual average yield of 7.19 per
cent- if held, to maturity in nine
years. The annual rate of interest
is 5.75 per cent for the first
year; 6.75 per cent for the
second year; 7.50 per cent for
each of the next five years,' and
7.75 per cent for each of -the
final two years.
In addition, there are -three
Compound Interest; Certificates.
The first certificate gives the
holder $5.00 - for each $100
.bond.-if._the...intexest. certifi'cates.
for the first five years are not
cashed until Nov. 1, 1976, the
second certificate provides a
bonus of $3.50 if, certificates for
the sixth through to the ninth
year inclusive are held uncashed.
If all of the annual interest
certificates and bonuses are left
uncashed until maturity, a third
certificate becomes 'payable for
$13.
Thus, a $100 Canada Savings
Bond, if held' till Nov. 1, 1980,
will be worth $187.
This year, the maximum limit
of CSBs is raised to $50,000.
During the 1970. CSB
campaign, mord' than 219,000
employees in establishments
throughout Ontario purchased a
record total of more than
$103 -million worth of Canada
Savings Bonds through the
Payroll Savings Plan.
