The G.D.C.I. Vikings -football
team mades' Its first start of the
Season tomorrow (Friday) when
they play host to the Sarnia
Central Centaurs.,.
The Senior Vikings, under
coach Wayne Horner, has been
working out at the
campus since August 30
preparing for the defence of the
Huron -Perth title they won last
year.
The exhibition game here
against Sarnia • should provide
Coach' Horner with some idea of
• the team's/ chances of repeating
this year.
The Centaurs were last ,yrs
Sarnia. Conference chafppii.,ns,
but were losers to the Vikings in
a post -season` championship
game. They are rated as a
powerhouse again this season.
Game time for ' the senior
game is' 5:15, following the
junior garne at •4:00.
• The Viking squads return .to
Sarnia on Monday to play Sarnia
Northern in their final
. --exhibition game before the -start
of the regular schedule which •
tentatively sees Wingham
Mustangs playing - here next
Thursday, September^ 23. The t.
Mustangs were last year's league
finalists along with the Vikings.
Coach Horner', a perennial
pre -season pessimist, sees this
year's Viking squad as younger
and smaller than' last year's
team, and claims it lacks the
depth of the previous league
