N • OLE SAAYS WOK WHAT HAPPENED A GODERICH SIGNAL -STAT, T RSDAY, AT!'1 VST Monday night the children were invited to a Splash. Party at the Pool. Due •to the large uriyoUt, the Splash party was a big -success. A scavenger hunt for ' pennies was the first ,game that took' place. Relays, water polo and rates were just a few of the • other activities. The :_ _event. that night was the watermelon hunt. A large watermelon was greased and put into the"water. The children were only able to handle the watermelon with one hand. The winner of the watermelon was Joanne Healey. A free swim ended the successful • Splash Party. The._ i -est 'of the week was spent preparing 'for the yearly Penny 'Carnival which was held on Friday afternoon and night. Some of the afternoon activities were pony rides, boat rides, game booths, hippy .boQth.,_wit}i body painting, fortune teller's booth, and a refreshment booth. A lot or planning goes into; the Penny Carnival which is handled each year . by'' the Craft .Girls,. This year a lot of credit goes to . — ; .Ie,:; : 1isset,. , ,' b,,..,,iargani zed The entire Penny Carnival and did an excellent job. Friday night a synchronized swimming demonstration • was, ,put on at 7. o'clock. The girls that are involved with Sychronized swimming are, ,Wendie Thompson, Cathy • Reynolds, Cindy Fisher, 'Vickie Tray, Elenor M.Millen; Sue MacDonald, Karen Harris, Vicky Dierolf, Cindy Cornish and Anne. • Mase Murphy. The above' girls did a fantastic + job which was due to their long hours of practice 'and effort. Theirparents should be extremely proud, Of their daughters because they put forth an excellent effort. • The main reason • for these girls' performance is due to.their instructor = Kathy Robertson. Kathy has been on• the staff for three summers and has done an excellent, job. both as an instructor and a friend to the children. This is Kathy's last summer with the Swimming - Pool because she will be going to school in Napanee where her parents have recently moved. I • - know as a staff member and a friend that she certainly will be •missed not just by the staff but by . the kids as well. Thanks Kathy for caring. ' A Judo demonstration was also part of the Penny Carnival's activity. It was put on by the Goderich • Judo Club-- which is part of the Goderich Sports Association. Hermorit Crummer is the head instructor for --the Judo Club which put . on fan excellent performance. The Horror. House as usual gave scares, screams and terror to the brave ; children _who entered the place of terror. This Sports .Associatioe is a' branch of the Ontario Sports Association which enables members to take part in the Olympics. In 1963 due te. lack of interest from parents and supporters the Goderich Sports Association fell through. Most balls will last about 45 holes and by then become cut up or lost. The Noodles faced' the Aces at 7:00• p.m. and the Foresters took on the Gophers at 5:30 p.m. but no results weir available at press time. The League has been operating under the sponsorship of the Goderich Kinettes for ,three years.
