the Maitland Country Club. Last
Thursday, Walter Palmer and
Doug Hesk, arose.at the crack of
dawn to transport eight boys to
Strathroy. One of,, them teed off
at 7.30 a.m, in the Junior
Invitational Tournament.
Don Bedour tied for the lead
but lost out in extra holes for
first place, but, he felt that he
was well rewarded with his
-second place prize.

went up for grabs Saturday
August 14th ,at the' Goderich
greens, and attracted 26 teams
of eager contestants from as far
north .as Owen Sound, also from
• Sarnia; Stratford, Ingersoll, St.
Marys, 'Seaforth, Mitchell,
Wingham ' and Clinton, to
mention a few. The. Goderich
Club . -fielded 12 "teams in
defense, but were outbowled for
the top place by Walt and Ardie
Westbrook, formerly of
• Gaderich, but now bowling out
or the Mitchell.Club.
Eight sets of prizes, all of
which were comprised of various
values of Canadian Tire Cash
Bonus Certificates, sponsored by
the three Canadian Tire Stores
of Wingham, " Seaforth and
Goderich, were won by the

Victorians are victorious
The regular season for the
Bantam Minor Soccer League in
Goderich wound, up this week
with the final standings showing
the Victorians finishing first, the
Lions second, the Knights third
and Cherubs fourth.,
The teams .now enter playoff
action and will be fighting for
the Schnieder Trophy and the
Legion Cup. The Schniedef
trophy action is now in progress
with the Cherubs and the Lions
playing the • Vics and the
Knights.
In the first game the Cherubs
and Lions turned outa tie game
with both teams failing to score
a point. It was a goal keepers
game with bOth ntt minders
playing strong games and
stopping all of the shots put
•
their way. A replay of the
opening game' will be held this
evening.
The ,. Vies defeated --the
Knights by a convincing 5-0
.score. The match was well
Played' but the Knights net
minder failed to stop the goals,
