Or* From the Minister's study PASTOR ALFRED Donnybrook and Auburn United Churches The Christian Reform Son# Service led by Dick Roorda was held. - in the auditorium. last •_ . Sunday evening. • Ashamed f .the Gospel Very seldOm do we hear of a person who is ashamedof their name or that of theirparents. In fact most. people are proud of that name. This can be true in so rnany ways, our work, olir friends,, our country, town, or village. • The Apostle PaUl, in writing to the Romans, Chapter one, verse sixteen, gives this stirring testimony: "For I az n not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, For it is the Power of God, 'unto everyone that believeth." How often in these days, do we hear of people who are ashamed of this Gospel. One reason that they are ashamed is because it interferes with their way of life. They want to do their thing and down in their hearts they know that the Word . of God condemns the very things that they are doing. , This could be the answer as 4 to why „so 'many, people are staying away ftom the House of Gad. People who once were very sincere --they took their vows of love and loyalty tJesus. ' Christ—now seemto be ashamed of His Gospel message. . This causes • confusiOn, and the Word of 'Gad warns us of this 'very thing, especially in the ,days in which we live, which no doubt speak of the return of Christ (Search the Scripture fax these truths). The main concern should be ' for all Christians to have a zeal " and passion for those who know not ChriSt as Saviour and 4, ord.° The Apostle Paul had to contend with these problems in his day,. and he. is very clear to all of us who claim to be Christians. Let use go out and testify to the world, or" the farm, in the shop or office, or wherever we may be, that we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ. For we have felt the power in our own lives. We have felt the burden of sin lifted and an intense joy in our hearts, of being accepted'Of Christ, and the assurance of sins forgiven, and the.promise of a home in Heaven in that day, Unless we have "had this experience...in our own life 'we have no 'rt.& to try -and correct because of other people who feel others. that they have the Truth, The Whole Truth,, and Nothing But the Truth.
