Last week Goderich had the biggest mutual handle so

been playing a stand out game
despite the loss.
In the second match the
Victorians took on the Lion
Hearts in a very-: close match
with the players playing man for
man. The passing plays were
outstanding throughout the
game.
The first and only goal was
scored by Bili. Nurse from a
penalty shot. Jerry Fritzly hit
the ball with his hands inside the
goal box leading to the call. Bill
Nurse put the gall"''••in the left
corner against goaler Ron
Sauresky who made a terrific try.

managed to stop the Vics' front

On August 8 one of the
highlights of the season will take
place when the Bantam League
All Stars take on the fathers in a
match. The game will take place
in Agriculture Park beginning at
3:00 p.m. and everyone is urged
to come out and support their
favorite team.

this week's action in . the
Goderich Minor Soccer League.'
Two .of them saw the Victorians
in action as they picked up. two
more wins. -
—In the fist game the
Victorians . hammered out a
convincing 7-0 'win over the
Cherubs led by the hat trick
performance of Steve Williarns.
The Vics took control of the
game from the first half when
Williams rifled a shot through
Allan Fritzly. •. League `leading
scorer Larry Donnelly added
two more goals to his season
Local Tykes
win first
at Listowel
The, Goderich Tyke baseball
team won their first game of the
season when. they defeated
Listowel on Saturday . in a
Western Ontario Athletic
Association league game played
at Listowel.
The score wound up a
convincing 26-10 count in
favour of, the Goderich team'.
After the game team coaches
said they, felt this year's
experience should improve the
team's ability considerably by
next season.
Those in the line ` up against
Listowel were Rick Rawson,
Tom • Doherty, Doug
Cruickshank, Gary Peters, Larry
'Daer, Paul Doherty, Robert
McDonald,' Danny Boyce, John
Huff and Larry Essex.
In other minor baseball
action this week the Goderich
Lion Bantam team journeyed to
Mitchell on Friday where they
picked tip a, 9-3 victory. The
Win represented their eleventh in
12 outings this year.
Winning pitcher, ` Casey
W ldgeh, played an excellent
ime giving up only two hits and
tie walk as he struck out 16
airs. He also led the scoring
attack as• he picked up two hits

The Kinsmen have three
games left in the regular season
and all are against Crediton. One
of the matches will 'be a home,
game to be played on August 6.

Sports scored three runs in the
third inning and seven in the
fourth to defeat Discount Centre'
by the score of 10-0. Doherty
struck out 15 and threw a one
hitter in that game. '
In the standings Gord's
Sports is out in front with a 13-1
record for 26 points'. Sandy's
Clippers is ' in second place
holding 'a 9-4 record and 18
points while Gower's Garden
Centre is third with a record of 7
and. 6 for 14 points.
Building Centre is staying in
the running with -A.- 6-7 record
this season and 12 points:
Discount Centre holds dowp
sixth place with a 4-7-1 record
for 9 points and Sifto Salt is in
the basement having yet to win a
game with 14 losses so far this
season.
