Raceway management must be congratulated on how they fixed•t.he
Agricultural Park. •
Last 'Tuesday night, with the graduation and sales on, we found a
sinall crowd.at the meet.
...Frank Dam sprained his ankle in the seventh. when an accident
occurred. .
The big pay off was Wayne Expres, driven .by George Caldwell,
()eying $26..30, $7,70, $7.50. •• --The •big disappointment to the crowd and management was when
the machines broke down and there was no exactor wagering. It was
rather a disappointment for our new manager Bruce, but he is busy
working hard on a real good card for the next races.
So come out and enjoy a night of excitement at the race with the
horses . .

The ' Ladies' ,r.4, ...Invitational
Tournament on July 21, will
have a nine hole special round •
for ladies with "a 36 handicap, as
well as the regular 18 hole event.
This should attract more local
entries. • ;
One of the interesting
developments , at the Maitland
Club this year, is the "Esprit de
Corps" among the members.
This was evident fast winter,
when a hard-core of curlers were
. able to organize and run, two
•successful'family-style jitneys.
The spirit and co-operation
• has increased all spring,. and has
assisted greatly ink maing, the
financial campaign a success, and
is now helping to build up our
to club activities for all our
members.
Many thanks are due to the
staff who' helped us• carry on
when we had no manager for
three weeks, Vic Powell, Edna
Powell, Bill Taman, Fanny
Sheardpwn, Stan Dungale, Don
Bedore and Andrew -4 arper, to
name a few, who kept, the club
hota ' ''open- and functioning
adequately,
Friday night has developed
into, a real social spree for many
members. Once again,
ntertainrn-efirwas provided by a
local✓ group, "The Broughams"
consisting of Goal Munroe,
Grant Ellison, .and Ron Walsh.

help make our club a more
enjoyable spot on weekends.

Friday,' July 2, and another large
group on Saturday, July 3, came
down for the weekly • mixed
two -ball foursome and , were
,entertained afterwards by
George Bolton with his guitar.
Perhaps our curlers, who' are
not golfers; but enjoy a good
party, will' want to join th.e fun
at :the club on weekends this
summer. Why wait until. next fall
before returning for our social
activities?
Another worthy, contribution
is being made by Jim Kinkead,
Ron Menzies and Vic Laughleen,,
w ho are organizing an
instruction period each Monday

until noon for junior golfers. ,

Study Huron's official
plan of open meet
Since its creation in late 19-68
the County of Huron Planning
Board has been actively pursuing'
the preparation." of 'an Official
plan to promote, and guide
development throughout the
count)-. The coisuiting firm of
G. V.. Kleinfeldt and Associates•
was engaged in the summer of
1969 and they .. have now
completed a draft official plan
for Huron County.
The plan. whew adopted, will
provide county council and the
Planning Board with 'the r'
necessary and appropriate
administrative tools to guide and
direct the development of all the
municipalities. in the county in a°
manner deemed to, be in 'the
public interest.' The plan will be
the county's "Statement ,of
Policy" on land use, .it will
provide "guidance and
direction" to both public and
private interests. ,
The plan sets out suggested
policy on such issues as: (a)
recreational development on the
Lake Huron shore (b) urban
d e` eloprn'ent , (c) ° rural
development (d) • future
municipal planning.
The consultants, under the
direction of the planning board.
Peter,.....
prepared . the draft plan. This
draft plan is not yet an official
plan. Before' the plan becomes
official, local municipal councils
.and the public at large -must
comment on the ,draft plan.
Based on these comments
county' council will submit a
draft plan to the Minister :of
Municipal Affairs for hiss
approval. Upon approval by the
Minister • the draft plan •becomes
the official plan. .
The purpose of public
-meetings is to let you. the
public.' make, your feelings,
either pro or"i~onY..W.known to
county council, the .planning
board- and • the ' planning
department. Based • on your
comments an effedtive plan can
be developed and, implemented.
You can obtain 'a copy'of'the
