Yogurt.. good
for every
c ci o -rid'" " r rtc he r
Yogurt is an ancient food
that is enjoying new popularity
today. Made from skimmed or
partially skimmed .milk and a
special culture, yogurt's food
value is similar to that of milk. It
is rich ,in protein, calcium and
riboflavin, and relatively low in
calories.
Plain'"yogurt is ideal for the
dieter. It has only •130 to 200
calories per. 8 -ounce serving. The
flavored regu ar or Swiss "style
has sweetenerrs and fruit or
flavorings added which increase
the calorie count to 230 to 330
per 8 -ounce serving.
The tangy 'flavor and
custardlike • consistency of
yogurt make it popular as a
snack. and dessert, as well as a
diet favorite. It can be enjoyed
`as an instant breakfast, a
lunchtime refresher or a
midnight snack_.ri..-._._
Yogurt may be used in place
of sour cream in most recipes. It_
gives the creamy' richness of our
creaea, with only a fraction of
the calories. The delightful tang

St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Goderich, was .the ..
scene Friday, May "21 for the double -ring ceremony at which
Carole Cristine Harris • became the bride of Douglas Henry
Spittig.'
Rev. R. Moynahan performed the marriage -for the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Harris, Holrnesville' and the son of Mr.
and Mr's. Carl Spitzig, Walkerton.
The bride's dress of traditional white was aldng semi -empire
ink n
lines of chiffon over .peau de soir featuring a.p pinkribbon, lace
and+ beads down -the front and also down the ;middle of the
train. A Spanish -type headdress of beads held the bride's
three-quarter length veil and she carried a cascade of•pink roses
and white miniature. carnations.
-Maid oh . honor was Miss Lynda Chisholm, Goderich': She
wore a semi -empire dress featuring a printed nylon°thiffo-n full
gkirt and a robin's egg'blue bodice. She wore a matching
floppy -brimmed hat and carried a basket of pink miniature
caft'a`tions with lacy .white flowers.
Gowned .identically to the maid of honor were the
bridesmaids, Miss Connie Harris, sister, of the bride,
Holmesville,—and Miss Cathy Spitzig, sister of the groom,
Walkerton. ,
Flowergirl Lori Harris, sister of the bride, wore a dress
styled identically to the gowns worn by, the older attendants,
except ,it was sewn entirely of,robin's egg blue nylon chiffon..
" Tom Moffatt,'Goderich, was groomsman. Ushers were John
Phillips, Goderich, and Ron' Spitzig,, brother of the groom,
Walkerton: •'Scot•t Harris, brother of the bride, was ringbearer.

dress ensemble with a corsage of pink miniature carnations.

Pick your., own ferries
For the freshest, most
luscious strawberries, visit one of
Ontario's • :"pick -your -own"
farms. Food specialists at the
Ontario Food 'Council, Ontario
Department of Agriculture and
Food have picking and storing
suggestions to help maintain the
plump, juicy freshness and flavor
of strawberries. _ ..
, Pick .only the firm, fully ripe
berries with glossy red skin.
Berries4hat are- underripe have
green or white areas and an
underdeveloped flavor. Cup the.
berry in the palm of •your hand
and snap the stem off, with.the
thumb .and forefinger. This
method leave the calyx and . a
short pieceof stem on the berry
and prevents accidental bruising
or crushing. It also leaves .one
hand free to hold the basket.
Berries left in the , hot sun
after picking fade quickly, so it's
a good idea to take the picnic
cooler along. This will keep the
berries cool and fresh until they
... n .be put into the refrigerator.
At home, sort through the
berries and remove.any` that are
soft or bruised. Store the 'rest,
unwashed anduncovered,,in the
refrigerator. •For best flavor and
quality, they should be used
within one or two days.
