McKinley, MP for Huron, wrote reeve. Paul, Carroll that, "recommendations from Ottawa have been to the 'effect that they do not feel any more finances can be eicpended for further facilities for pleasure craft." . Mr. McKinlby• visited the Goderich Harbour and then wrote to the Department. of Public Works requesting they give consideration to the widening' of Snug Harbour so that boats could be docked in slips instead of alongside the walkway., "I have asked them to -consider this matter previous to. waiting for any overall program, which will include amarine for, ' the pleasure' boats in the river north of the harbour." the MPP wrote. "I have explained that this development may be some time away, and the present need is urgent." The department said that further , expansion for pleasure craft would require soxne municipal finances. Mr. McKinley said he,realized this is too big an undertaking for the town to get involved in and consequently eXplained the tremendous need to the Minister.
