This substratum should be at least three inches `deep and composed of good garden soil, and sand and • peat, in equal quantities. If available, one part of peastone should be added. Spread this ' evenly over the surface to be paved and start to lay the stones. Select large flagstones for where the the 'traffic is' likely to be heavy, and smaller stones for corners or areas away from the main arteries. Test each stone as it is put -in place to be sure it is solid.
