It looks like, a mighty fine
program for this -summer at
Judith Gooderham Park. I spent
some time. last Friday talking to
Betty Bedard concerning things
at the pool and Y am pleased to
report that.Betty has things well
under control.
$etty, as ' some of you
probably know, has completed
the 'first year , of a two-year
course at Fanshawe College in
Recreational Leadership. Years
ago these courses were unheard
of and even if they had been
available, there would have been
no work for the graduates. -`
`Now things are different and
las a result of her ,new training,
Betty has come 'back to
Goderich this summer all fired
-up with enthusiasm and with
plenty. of good solid ,know;how
to back it up.
O,ne, of the things which is
exciting Betty more than
anything else 'is her swimming

lessons for two -year-olds! That's
what. Betty told me. She will
`teach swimming to children of
two years of age! Sound
interesting?
Another exciting feature of
this year's pool program is the
bigger and better variety of •
activities. It appears that
swimmingwill only be a small
partof the total program. The
playground program_ has been
expanded this ' year ' and
according._toL..Betty there will be
as many field trips as time and
finances will al'l'ow.
Family swimming is another
top priority item. It will be
Wednesday eveningra tithe«cost,•'
'will be 50 cents per family no
matter how many children there
are. There is ,one stipulation,
however - the parents must be
in the water,' too!
* * * ,a.
Do you have a record player
around your house which is
doing nothing in particular and
you would like to see it put to
some good use?
Well, the pool staff could use
it. They plan 'to teach dancing
and rythmics as well- as
synchronized swimming. . It
might even be utilized during the
storyhour each morning.
If you have a record player to
donate to Judith Gooderham
Park; -please telephone the pool
supervisor; Betty Bedard.
