Yearbook Committee becomes
busier and busier planning the
Senior Wing's 1971 Yearbook.
We are hoping to include a
picture of each pupil the

Student's Council, the.Yearbook
Committee and the champion
volleyball teams., .
On April 30, the grade, 1
classes put on the play, "The
Gingerbread Man". The -parents
were invited to come and see it..

TheiGoderich chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi celebrated the 40th.
Anniversary of the
organization's founding April
27.
A banquet in ,hich the
Clinton chapter executive joined
with the local chapter for the
occasion was held at the Red
Pump Restaurnt in Bayfield.
Forty • years ago, the first
chapter of the sorority . was
formed. in Abilene, Kansas.
. There are now approximately
9,600 chapters and over 200;000
'members in the United' States,
Canada, and, twenty-four foreign
,,p ntries.

observed. The rhistory and

highlights of the local \chapter
were reviewed and the new
members received their' Ritual of
Jewels.' and welcome to
membership.
Installation 9f the new
Clinton and Goderich executive
fa 1971-72 .followed the
Rituals. ,
A special presentation of a
gavel- guard for the outgoing
president, Sue Gower, was made
by Shirley Baechler.
Dorothy Feagan was
presented with a special 15 year
.pin and was the second member
of this chapter to be honored for
15 years inenibership• in the last
,..,three years. This 'presentation
was Made by the other 15'year
member, Martha Rathburn.
Martha also - presented the
chaOter with a beautiful crested
satin tablecloth for the Ritual
table. ,
Shirley, Baechler wasunacned
Girl of the Year 'for her -
outstanding contribulions to the
chapter, in the past year. The
Girl of. the Year is chosen by an
• awarding of Points for each
contribution made to each event -
or project; thus, each girl has an
gqual opportunity to win the
award and it is only by special
extra effort that a girl does so.
• Other presentations were
made to special committees and
for perfect attendance.
The evening concluded with
the presentation of a yellow rose
to. eacIhnew.member.

CLEANUP DAY
On Wednesday, April 21, the
Senior Wing had Cleanup Day.
The Grade seven and eights went ,
outdocns fifteen minutes early
before recess, and scanned the
yard. Any rock or piece of paper
was picked up.
'On April 20 the Junior Wing
had their ,CleanuP Day. They
also searched the yard" for rocks
and pieces ofpaper. ,
When- both the Senior and
Junior Wings had cleaned the
yard,, there was hardly any paper
in sight.

A group of children from
Robertson Memorial School
travelled to Huronview and then -
on to the Goderich Psychiatric
Hospital Tuesday to entertain
the residents there. • •
The school band and a choir
performed. The Grade 1 play
was also presented, 'as well as
other variety numbers.
with 23 Guides in attendance.
We opened with roll ,call
followed by an active game led
by Lt.. McLennan and Ceasar.
Lt. Ceasar and Lt. .Sinnett
gave, us Sothelnore instructions
on our knitting and embrcAdery
work.
Capt. Tigert then read a letter
to the Guides from 'Alive"
magazine suggesting that each
patrol should have its own copy.
• The Guides all agreed to pay 20
cents each sb that they all would
have a copy of the magazine.
Lt. Sinnett had the girls do a
compass test game on the 16
points of the, compass .which,.
most of the Guides all had
correct.

the girls on the hike we are going

lociking forward to it and hope
the weaher is nice and Warm,
Capt. Tigert reminded 'the
girls to come prepared to the
next meeting, with note books
and pencils, so that the food lists
for the mother and daughter ,
banquet can be handed out. The
banquet is to be held May 20.
Campfire was held by
Bluebirds, consisting Of songs,
scrambled words test on
holidays and jokes told 'by
different girls in the patrol.
